A certain Burlington vice detective has a habit of simply barging in and taking laptops and phones from working girls. If the girl protests too loudly, she gets hauled in. In Woburn, one or more officers appear to be stalking girls outside the scope of a legitimate investigation. A girl has shown me convincing evidence that an officer is blackmailing her for sex. If you remember what happened in Andover a few years back, you already get the picture. In short, be safe and be smart. Never, ever open the door for anyone claiming to be a cop or a hotel employee.  In Massachusetts, a hotel room requires a search warrant, just like a house does.
