Hey guys and gals!

In the course of my research for what would be a great city to visit this summer, Boston came up quite a bit. I've heard awesome things about the city before, but I want to know what are some of your favorite activities and sights to see when you're NOT romping in the bedroom? What would you say the #1 non-touristy thing to do in the city would be?

Hi Sensualsanaa!  Hmmm...non touristy?  If you like shopping head to Newbury street!  Plus they have some pretty damned good little cafes too. For people watching Faneuil Hall is a great place as well as more restaurants and shops.  During the summer they have free Shakespeare and free music at different areas of the Boston Common.  Once July rolls around the Hatch Shell has free Friday night movies.  If you want to watch an under-achieving team play bad baseball you could always catch a game at Fenway Park.

Don't forget..there's always great hotels in and around Boston too lol. :-;

-check out Little Italy. Also great options if you love Seafood. My fav place although is http://atlanticfishco.com/ which is little expensive.
-Lot of tourists enjoy Duck tour, which i have personally never taken as I am too sexy for that.
-Don't stress yourself by trying to park on street... just look up a garage in map and then walk to your destination.
-I think in and around Copley there are good shopping stores

I'm not sure what you mean by not touristy but if you're already here spend couple of days at Cape Cod or Martha's Vineyard. Granted hotels are pretty pricey in summertime but you can actually try to work there too since both places are full of people throughout the summer; there is even an unofficial but breathtakingly gorgeous public nude beach on Martha's Vineyard.  

And-eh... I just discovered that there's skydiving in Barnstable. Remember that activity that you always wanted to do at least ones in your life but felt shivers about? Well, maybe it's time to conquer your fear and enjoy what arguably is the most joyous pastime humans ever invented

And the other thing, why don't you specify what you mean by not touristy. Good restaurants? Search for restaurants on the forum, you'd find myriads of great suggestions. Both the ladies and the hobbyists are the best guides to a local gourmet, much better then any website or periodical.  

I'll give you one suggestion though: for the best burger in town (or maybe even you ever had) go to Craigie on Main in Central Sqr. Cambridge but! Remember they cook only 18 1.5lb burgers/day due to some complex patty mix and it's on the first come first serve bases only.

So if you order after 3pm, chances are you're not getting one but what I was also told by a host there that on Sundays they serve the same mix but at regular size so that may also be an option.

When I said "not touristy" I meant places that exist mainly to take your money but outside of shirts and keychains that say "someone went to Boston and all I got was this lousy shirt." they don't have much else. I enjoy seeing landmarks and visiting restaurants that are unique to the city. Last time I toured a big city I made the mistake of staying in the suburb for 2 days and there was NOTHING to do or see and everything closed at 10pm. Not this time!

Now I do love an adventure, but I am not certain I am ready for sky diving yet! I told myself I would try, but I want to ease into it and do an indoor lesson first! Yeah, still feel lots of shivers! What exactly is Martha's Vineyard? Is it comparable to the Hamptons in NY? That nude beach sounds like it's right up my alley!  
 

Martha's Vyniard is an island right off Cape Cod. It's even more expensive and more exclusive then the Cape.  

A tip, every year in July-August every president in my memory comes with his family to MV for summer vacation. At that point the island basically becomes impassable, especially in the direction of nude beach: secret service is everywhere, roads are blocked off routinely and so on. Three-four  years ago I was there when Obamas came. What a traffic nightmare! But... you may end up seeing some of them walk around.  
My female friend and I were in a small variety store in Manemsha when Billy, the Bubba with an impressive entourage walked in. Now my friend is very good looking and with distinct foreign accent and that accent gave former pres an opportunity to ask her a series of questions above and beyond "How are y'll doing here?" Both of us were under distinct (but granted, maybe erroneous) impression that if it wouldn't have been for the secret service folk we would've had a fascinating story to tell when we returned home, which she would've been telling her children and grandchildren for decades to come.

Nude beach is located on the remote, less touristy part of the island called Gay's Head. It's under beautiful clay cliffs. We still have pictures of ourselves covered in silver clay, red clay, and yellow clay. The swimming is not the best on the island (nothing in Mass can beat the sand of the South beach on the other side of the island), it's kind of rocky but if you aim your phone in any direction, you'll see people ducking under the boulders. Most of the men on the beach seem to walk around, most of the women seem to be lying on the sand, sunbathing.  
What else... Oh yea! Be aware of dressed men. If a man kept his shorts on the nude beach, chances are he is not there to enjoy himself but rather a voyeur, and a very uptight and unhappy voyeur at that too. There aren't many of those there but there always some. They look at you funny, some of them can get aggressive. Speaking from personal experience here.

hang out downtown by the waterfront/northend and have a few cocktails.  Simple yet elegant!
