Dear Everyone,

As you may or may not know, my sister was diagnosed with Lupus in October/2003. Right now there is little that I can do to help her except to get more people to sign this petition. Lupus is a disease that causes my sisters immune system to attack her own body.

(In clinical terms)
In an autoimmune disease like lupus, the immune system loses its ability to tell the difference between foreign substances and it own cells and tissues. The immune system then makes anti-bodies directed against itself. She has the serious form (also the most common form)  It is called Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.

She has been having a rough time with it lately, but the medication she is on is causing just as much damage as the disease. This is really breaking my heart! I am feeling helpless.

The Dorough Lupus Foundation has created a stamp petition.  This stamp would be used to help raise money for Lupus Research.  Please take a look at the petition and the DLF website.  If you can sign the petition it would mean the world to me! Thank you for your support.
