I didn't check your numbers, but a barrel of oil is only 42 gallons. (A quirk of history.)  

EDIT: I checked your numbers. They're good:

(1172.82 / 55 ) / (31.78 / 42) = 28.18.

Just for calcification 42 gallons is a barrel of crude oil most finished lubes are 55 gallons.

It was JD Rockefeller who established the 42 gallon barrell...

He did so to account for leakage, from what I recall.

I myself prefer almond oil, but to each their own
