The links were to local stories, and those stories contained quite a bit of info. So -- thank you!

I DO think the stories contained some interesting tidbits on how the cop went about it though. Specifically:

He used his real name. A lady is most likely to be nailed by a cop in the town where she is working. Almost every PD lists the names of all its officers right on its website. Therefore, a good idea is for providers to cross-reference names with local PD website.

He had someone agree to verify his employment at someplace other than where he really worked.

If you google someone, usually there is at least SOME linkage to where s/he works.

You posted personal info on this board,and habitually run your mouth on these boards like you have a fucking clue. You should be moderated, and shame on the Mods if you're not.

You should be moderated for serial stupidity if nothing else. Your posts on the GD board are making people leave that board.  Maybe take up crochet?

What I posted was PUBLICLY AVAILABLE news story; nothing learned via inside info. I agree it was ill considered to post it; and that's that.

You cannot post someone's personal info on this site - (name, age, address, etc) --period.

If you were nailed for tax evasion or embezzlement, and it became PUBLIC record or in the Boston papers, would you want some asshole posting your name on TER because it was "publicly available"???

I have to agree that someone's private info should not be allowed on the board as it is a rule.  I am sure you would not your info up here. Remember the saying, "Do unto others as you would have done unto you"  but even more importantly, "Think before you speak." Although saftey and security is the utmost importance in the hobby there are ways to assure this and posting personal info is not one. To the provider my thoughts and prayers are with you and if you need anything you know how to reach me.  To the gossip hounds you can all kiss my ass as you people are getting pleasure out of someones misery.  Lastly there are three stories her story the newspaper story and the real story....  I will ask which one do you know???

On the one hand, a person's personal information should not be given out, at least not without very good reason.

But on the other hand, what about the safety of TER members?

I think Johngault was only thinking of the latter and should be cut some slack.

Not too long ago, there were bust in Chicago involving some providers who flipped and cooperated with LE.  I myself was sent links to these articles by a Chicago area provider whom I am very close to and posted them on the GD board, and I don't recall them being pulled down or otherwise any controverey about linking to newspaper articles that exposed this clear and present danger to clients.

Isn't sharing this kind of information part of what this board is for?

I don't want to commit and faux pas, so what is the official policy on TER about this?

Gag-em has a deep and abiding *personal* hatred of me for whatever reason. He gives it away in spades.

Because of this, he has a special filter regarding me that attributes malicious intent to everything; and he is always crying out for the most severe of sanctions when it comes to me.

If it were anyone else -- he would have been silent.

It is very interesting to note how selective he is in considering ter guidelines.

Personal attacks such as he levels at me (and others) from behind this alias and many others in other threads do not fall under the TER guidelines for acceptable use of an alias.

It is ironic that he would be such a stickler about rules for one person; while consistently violating the intent of those rules himself. But hatred is such that it keeps him from seeing the irony.

It's all completely asinine, if they don't want people to read the story don't mention the city.  Googling the city and word prostitute is just one extra step everyone who would have clicked on the link will take anyway.

I think the original intent of the poster was to contribute to the community showing the importance of good screening, by showing what can happen, and how it happens.  Unfortunately the personal info of a provider is mixed in the published information.  I don't think the personal info is as big a worry as the legal issues she is facing.

I find it hard to follow most of the arguing/yip-yap in the related posts.  Seems like at least one poster is just wanting to stir trouble.  Again, best wishes to the provider (who no doubt needs support at this time) and hoping other providers learn the lessons regarding screening this brings to light.

At the risk of rekindling the controversy here, I don't think anyone should be banned from the site for posting a link (not info, but a link) to a bona fide, legitimate newspaper or news story.  What sense does that make?  This person has had TV news reporters crawling all over her neighborhood; her bail was revoked and she was being held in jail; she's going to have big legal fees; etc. etc.  Do you really think a link to a newspaper article on TER is going to be on her Top 1000 lists of concerns?  I doubt it.

I agree that no personal info should be posted here, ever.  I was one of the people who went ballistic when a recent provider sent out multiple emails revealing all of her clients names and emails to each other.  But a link to a bona fide news story is a very different thing.

(By the way, I would use my screen name, but I know the person involved, and don't want to create more headaches for her.)

By posting a link on the board, it drives TER members to an article that outs her info.  Outting her info, besides just being plain wrong, also draws the connection between her and her TER handle and opens her up for possible extortion and definite embarrassment.

Even these threads on whether or not it should be posted point people who may never have known to the information that shouldn't be out there.

Let's say that one day *YOU* decided to "live a little dangerously." You go to see an unreviewed or compromised girl and get in some legal trouble yourself! Would it not be bad enough to have an arrest cause you possible career, relationship, custody, finacial, etc problems...?? Would YOU also want every lurker and ill-willed person on these boards to be "convienantly" DIRECTED to articles sharing your personal information??

It is in these types of situations we are again reminded of the ever present but INCORRECT belief that "working girls" have less to lose than their "clients"...

Just be aware that if this rule sticks, there will be almost no way to report on LE activity in such a manner as not to out some providers personal information by letting people know about it.

This does not sound rational to me.

... but rather that many guys would have a problem with EVERY SINGLE PERSON reading this board having a direct link to an article saying your real name, age, home address, type of employment etc.. Say some other hobbyist had a chip on his shoulder for some reason... such a direct link would make his job of trying to make your life miserable THAT much easier..
