Now this is scary. From the article:

"Massage therapists used a color-coded sticker system to rank customers' willingness to pay for sex. A green sticker on the client information card meant the person was trustworthy and could be solicited, a yellow sticker told prostitutes to proceed with caution, and a red sticker advised against asking the customer to pay for sex, an informant told police.

Files were kept on all the customers, listing their names, how many times they've visited and their preferences, according to documents. Customers were also rated on how well they tipped. During the search, police seized several file drawers of documents and a set of index cards on customers, Glynn said."

This is great, huh.  It's been about 2 years since I last went there and never would have gone back if they paid me.  Now I have to worry about the Quincy police having my name on file.  This is so nice.  Luckily I used a phony address on the forms I filled out when I first went there.  I was young and foolish when I went there and now I have a bad feeling it will come back to bite me.

I think this highlights a larger question.  I've always avoided agencies for exactly this reason.  When you submit to verification at an agency, you've now become part of their business records.  If/when they get busted, LE now has your name, address, and maybe even your driver's license number.

I know that any subsequent prosecutions are rare and arguably wouldn't hold up in court, but there are many other things to consider.  Follow-up contact in the name of "investigation" could be highly embarrassing for most of us (imagine the SO picking up a message on the answering machine asking that we contact Sgt. Friday to discuss our frequent visits to Matrix).  For others of us, it can be very important to not tarnish an otherwise flawless impression with the local police chief.

I have heard of agencies that don't actually record your name as such, but keep records based on an abbreviated version of your name & license number (e.g. GeoBus123 for our president).  Unique, but not directly linkable to an individual.

Would any agencies (or independents) care to elaborate on their record-keeping to allay the fears?

Well that is interesting...   I never went to the Quincy location, but many years (probably over 5) ago, went to the Stoneham location once or twice.  Was not impressed, so I never went back.

I do not think I even gave anything more than a first name anyways, certainly never gave address info at all.

I am certainly glad I never went to the Quincy location at all.

This stuff is going to make Heidi Fleis's "black book" look kind of tame.

This is just my practice and I do not say it is better or worse than anyone else's (just making that clear so as to not get into any arguements)

When I am going to take a session I usually write the persons name and verification info on a post it, once I am satisfied with their verification I throw it away keeping only the first name and location of meeting and after the meeting that is gone also. Usually when I am asked to give a reference the gentlemen requesting me to give the reference know that we must speak in order for them to remind me of the details of our meeting because I do not keep anything.  Unless he asks to use me as a reference then I do keep his first name, screen name, and place we met.

Dear Simon,

If you pay by credit card there is no way an agency (or independent) can avoid keeping records and at the same time comply with credit card regulations. If you pay by cash the agency may discard your info after the session is completed, but that depends on the agency's policy, which varies. It doesn't hurt to ask what their policy is regarding records of cash transactions.

So, to promote your privacy always pay in cash. If you have to make a deposit prepare some time in advance and send cash or money order. Have good references lined up so you don't need to give all your info when you are booking a new appointment.

Best regards,

Milton

Once I verified someone I got rid of there info except for first names and and when verifying for someone else I had them ask what hotel they saw me at,what I was wearing as I don't keep records and have NEVER kept even their first names in my computer.I handle the agency the same way.Love,Francesca/Grayeyed Nicole
