It will certainly curtail worthwhile providers use of Craigslist (myself included-I have actively used it to great success considering that most TERmites "just look" -LOL- and instant publishing lets them know that I'm available RIGHT THEN ).

However, it will not be a deterrent to the "average" Erotic Services user who could care less about protecting themselves and their identity, let alone a potential subpoena IF they get caught.

Craigslist will not be the first instant publishing medium to require a credit card-currently BackPage has one as well, requiring advertisers to pay $5.00 per ad.
It's less of a cost to advertise I think than a gesture and a means of collecting identity in my opinion.

When Craigslist finally does away with Erotic Services (and it will) other avenues will be found- advertisers always find a way.

Why anyone uses it is anathema to me?  For LE, it's like shooting fish in a barrel.

circumspect in the posted ads.

May not be as significant as first imagine.  The requirements will require basic identifying information to be supplied to CL by posters.

The information can be obtained by law enforcement via subpoena authority.  It will be a difficult case to prove in Court and will require significant man-power hours.  It will not be exercised lightly.  I think it would be reserved to case involving minors and perhaps "sex trafficking" as the article stated.

Thus, the ads will have to be discreet, and less crass.  Those ads that are discreet, and are not sexually explicit will have nothing to fear.

EXAMPLE:
_______
w4m - 24 (OUT CALLS)  (AS it appeared on CL-ER)

I AM AVAILABLE FOR OUT CALLS ONLY PLEASE ONLY SERIOUS INQURIES, AS I AM ONLY AVAILABLE OCCASIONALLY.
_______

Nothing actionable there, so please don't panic!!!!!!!

(I incorrectly reported that CT wasn't part of it.  i guess MA was the only one of the New England states to not enter into the Agreement.  Thanks Ding for pointing out my error.)

In it's current state CL is almost useless.  Hopefully the new fees and requirements will scare-off the endlessly post-scrolling street walkers and their pimps who have turned CL into the cyber-track...and a joke.

eros also takes credit cards, and whos to say the lady in the ad is the one who paid for it. It all just means, do as you always have gals. Screen well be discreet in the ads and in your pictures and you have no worries. If you think that an ad can get you in trouble, if you are discreet, well I doubt it. Not screening, and writing very discriptive ads will. They surf eros, backpage cl our websites, Ter and so on. Treat what ever medium you advertise in all the same, with discretion.
Well thats my 2 cents anyway.
