So, I've only been in the "hobby" for a little over a year but, I've only seen 2 providers in that time. One, about 6-7 times and the other once. I'm very pleased with her performances but, I want to try someone different. I've found it very challenging/difficult to see another provider over the past few weeks. I tried one well reviewed provider and it seemed like it was a go. She was very cordial and pleasant in her emails. But, the day before the appointment I was trying to follow-up on the time, place, etc. via e-mail and haven't heard from her since. Even sent another email days after to see if there was any other info i could provide and to tell her I was still interested. No answer. Tried the agency route. Filled out their form but, got no response. Sent a follow up email in reference to the reservation and got a call back. We confirmed the time for the provider I wanted to see an hour from the time we spoke. They asked for other information, which I gave and I never got a call back. Called back 15 mins. prior to the appointment to see what was up and the lady on the phone said she's not answering her phone. Have also tried to call and reschedule to no avail. Tried another provider today. Gave my reference. Waited. Gave my TER handle. Waited. Again offered to provide other information if needed. After hours of trying I was contacted back that she wouldn't be available after I originally got confirmation that she was. I was never rude or vulgar in any correspondence. I was even complemented for being a gentleman by the 1st one i tried. So, what am I doing wrong? And should I expect a denial message saying why I can't be seen or even ask for other info? Any advice from providers or hobbyist would be greatly appreciated.
Sir, A 6 yr. old can get a ter handle and I'm in no way trying to be rude to you.But we have a great "newbie board" and the questions you are asking can be best directed there . good luck
I am in no way taking it as being rude. I asked for advice so I have to be able to take it from all angles. And I did search the newbie board and most of those issues appear to be in getting started or how tho keep the game on the hush. So, I appreciate the feedback. I didn't think that the amount of reviews you posted had much to do with seeing other providers. I'm sure there are plenty of guys on here who have seen several providers and haven't written a single review. And I was looking at a couple reviews from one hobbyist who copy and pasted the same review from the same provider just a year or so later. I see that you are well respected and have a lot of reviews. Just want to know how you got from #2 to #3... And so on
I have a few girls I know and perhaps after reading your 1st review I could be of assistance. But you seem conflicted on the need for a review.Again ANYONE can write anything, and some will do anything...if your unwilling to do step 1, guess you dont need feedback you seem to have decided rules dont apply to you... Ok, I just re-read your last thread, based on your comments of the newbie board and oh yes your opinions ,I'm not gonna be able to help you.
so it appears that you can pass screening ( assuming they screened). What you are running into does happen. You try for an appointment and get nowhere. Gentleguys advice is good. There are plenty of ladies out there just keep looking until you find the 3rd lady that will see you.
I did search the newbie board 1st before I posted. Not trying to circumvent the rules. Just looking for some direction. But, thanks for your advice. It's a big help. I'll write my 2 reviews and see where it goes from there.
The Hobby is all about marketing and relaxation. The agencies and ladies market themselves here on TER and elsewhere, but as clients we have to market ourselves a bit as well. To what extent is up to you. It really is very easy to see new ladies. A few steps:
Write a Review: Regardless of how fictional it might truly be, a review shows potential ladies whether or not you're an intelligent gentleman who can put thoughts to paper. Being able to string along coherent thoughts is much more important than punctuation, but doesn't hurt to have good grammar. Writing reviews helps you when you say "I'm Finest..." The lady can read your reviews and decided if she wants to see you.
Get on the Boards: Again, you're showing some intelligence. No, you don't have to be a spammer who replies to everything. It is advantageous. My most recent hobby encounter was started when the provider herself responded to a positive comment I'd made in a thread. She was clearly impressed. After exchanging some PMs, we decided to meet and had a great time. Review forthcoming.
Don't overdo the emails and phone calls: I've been really bad at this. In my profession, I book all important work a few weeks in advance. This is not a great way of doing things in the hobby - it's a bit more relaxed. Usually scheduling a week ahead will suffice. You confirm but don't confirm daily, usually confirm in the AM on the day of the appointment and/or a call whenever the Provider tells you to call. Relax and let her lead along the dance that's her business.
If the appointment doesn't work out, then it doesn't. Never think "I should have sent one more email or made one more phone call." Don't expect explanations, sometimes it is simply a matter of NCNS - so just move on. Be aware that there will be times that a broken/missed appointment will turn into an encounter down the road - so try not to hold a grudge.
Read the ladies'/agencies' posts on the boards and photo threads: Since TER is where we all market ourselves, you can get a sense of whether a provider's flaky or coherent, or if the agency is reputable or a fly by night con job, simply by what they post and how they post it (Like you did in the reviews and posts). Since TER is essentially a marketplace, you can research your next encounter, but remember that no marketplace is without fallacy. Results will vary...
Lastly, I'll share some sage advice from darklove (one of the few men I truly respect in this hobby): "Trust your gut more than your libido and you'll do fine."
Hope this helps, Kosh
P.S. - sorry I got a bit long winded here, but I couldn't stop typing.
Even as a rookie long ago, I never had trouble like you describe. Maybe I'm just cute or have a better line than you... LMAO ..... I would say you just happened to stumble into a run of bad choices. I'd suggest you just erase from your list those who are guilty of what you describe and select some others... I'm sure you will eventually find some who are more serious about obtaining business and they will surely be more deserving of your contributions.
One of the great things about the Atlanta TER community is that providers (and I can only speak on my experience with independents) have a great sense of camaraderie with one another. In addition to a willingness to provide references and doubles, this friendly atmosphere also allows a hobbyist to gain reputabilty with other provides by building a repertoire with one provider. In other words, it is easy to network in Atlanta. As a younger hobbyist this process has been vital for me. You mention having visited one provider 6 or 7 times - does she have a doubles partner who you are attracted to? Has this provider ever suggested that you might enjoy the company of another provider she knows? If so, you might want to consider seeing this provider's friend (or friends) to diversify your experiences and make the transition from 2 to 3.

Writing a review does not qualify any guy to see any lady. I would wager there are many clients who don't write reviews or haven't written a review in a long, long time. Perhaps I am reading waaay more into your reply, and if so, my apologies. It is the stuff of urban legend and sad, pathetic fact that some hobbyists point to their reviews in an attempt to strongarm ladies into special arrangements.
That is NOT a slam against any hobbyist that does like to write reviews - there are very valid reasons to do so. But I have never heard of, nor experienced, any lady or agency skipping their screening practices because a guy has authored a review. Perhaps I am not seeing the right ladies. And if there are ladies that do skip their screening practices because some anonymous TER handle told them he writes/wrote reviews - I want to know who these ladies are as I would not feel particularly comfortable seeing them.
A more common requirement from ladies is the need for references or some other verifiable information to ensure their safety and comfort level. If the OP has provided this information and then the lady, ladies, or agency has not gotten back to him or responded to his follow up - the onus is on them, not him. Caveat being that he has given them sufficient time to do so. And yes, I have experienced that and I do backchannel those instances because I think it is just shitty to "force" a guy to go through the motions of providing references or some other veriable info and then saying nothing or oops, changed my mind. My suggestion to any that encounter such a situation is to move on to another option.
like there is something in the info you are providing that is putting up red flags for the ladies in question. To go 0-3 sounds odd. I have had streaks of bad luck and have had to contact different providers, so I feel your pain. Just as a test, do a google search of your own name and the info you are giving out. Maybe it is as simple as mistaken identity.
