many of us are known and recognized in the real world by our "first" alias from appointments, parties, etc. that we've attended  It would be more bold to act like a dick under a first alias, assuming that the person isn't a dick all the time

Query - when is a handle truly an alias?  When the handle doesn't match the driver's license?  When the handle does not conjure up a face/individual known by some other posters?  When there is no TER envelope next to a handle's post?  Based on some responses in another thread below, I surmise that a vast majority of guys don't even reveal a TER handle when meeting the ladies, "alias" or otherwise.

With the advent of smart phones, tablets, lower prices on laptops, etc. - the topic is moot since some posters have multiple TER accounts via multiple devises and this can permutate to multiple aliases.  No claim to be technically astute here; but IF I were to log in to a hotel or coffee shop WIFI and create a TER handle, how does that ISP track back to any other potential TER handles (assuming I don't log into TER with any other handle on that device?)  Yes, I am old, out of touch, and still haven't figured out how to get photos off my phone without sending one text at a time - so while derisive laughter is understandable, be kind to the clueless old dudes.  'Cuz one never knows when tomorrow's new technology is going to put you in the same predicament.

I used to get wrapped up in such concerns.  Now - I just look at a handle and if it has been associated with past twit comments, I just ignore all future posts from that handle.  Found TER to be a much more enjoyable place after making that decision.

PS - don't consider myself to be a dick ALL the time.  Long-winded, yes, but a dick - geez that seems a bit harsh.  Still; happy to make the point
