thanks, great location, already checking out the area.
I am going tough a divorce and have the big house in the suburbs on the market. A good friend of mine suggested that I rent something for a year and use that time to find what you really want. I have been looking at buying a condo/ townhome and am still considering but thought I would ask this group.
Please give your opinions as to a good place for a recently divorced man in his mid 40s to rent for a year. I prefer something on the north side of the city b/w 75 and 85 inside 285. One suggestion was the Post apartments over by Cumberland Mall; I was told that it is a divorced haven...all opinions appreciated
But this question runs right up there with the best steakhouse in Atlanta. Furthermore, as annoying as 411 posts for providers are, this one tops the charts.
Google what you're looking for. Rent.com, etc.
If you were a traveling provider it would be totally understandable, but you're starting a thread that will serve no purpose except to push down the ladies ads to another page because of folks telling you where they think you should live.
Give me a break.

Thank God you are here to save the woman from being pushed down the page. I woke up this morning terrified that there would be an unnecessary post on a board somewhere. I arrive at TER terrified of an unwieldy thread taking over and growing like a vine. Then out of nowhere, not a bird, not a plane, but Lord Board arrives to save.
Oh PMking, thank God you are here, we are saved. You have save countless of lives and if only you time to address the other 98 out of 100 @!#$#@!$ threads here...
Maybe he is asking if the divorce haven has some cougar/milf action and this could be a place to ask. Hell, the guy is getting a divorce, grant a posting reprieve for whatever gives him a moment of solace.
And FWIW, it's a stupid question. Completely unrelated to the hobby. He can get MILF action
Wherever he chooses, so long as he pays the toll, or has time to find a
Civvie chick.
roswell road north of buckhead. lots of reasonable apartments. and you can always drop by Johny's for some action. You'll be the youngest one there!

The Cumberland area isn't too bad, lived there for a minute myself. But the bigger question is why in the world would anyone with a financial brain buy a condo/townhome in Atlanta? I guess if you're going to stay it for a long time then by all means. Now buying an entire apartment complex is a different story - definitely as most people under 40 will never be able to own and occupancy will be assured...
better to use your money to buy assets than to buy liabilities masquerading as assets (e.g. houses in a stagnant housing market).
Several years ago some of real estate agents and brokers I knew back then were active hobbyists but they are now gone or underemployed. Truly bad time to sell or buy a house. We've seen the bad but chances are we will see the worse. Good luck on your plan.
I disagree. It's a great time to buy a house right now. But even in a good economy it sucks to sell a Townhome/Condo. If you know you are eventually going to be leaving the area I wouldn't even consider it.
Well, my friend, you're right about Townhouse and condo but this is at most I can offer to make our different opinions compatible: it's a great time to buy a *right-priced* house.
But then, it all depends on what *right-priced* means. My definition for Atlanta metropolitan area is the price level of the years 1997 to 1998. I don't even factor in the "undershooting" effect. Everyone called me crazy when I said seven years ago the housing price should and would go south. Of course my forecast could be wrong -- especially if something such as WWIII or hyperinflation happens down the road.
