Flashback more than 40 years ago. Singing about whiskey, rye, Chevy trucks. Ah, my American Pie and lamenting the day the music died.

I see that the notes and original lyrics penned in the creation of this amazing song are up for auction. Expecting to raise more than 1.5 million.

Somehow I hope they never actually figure out what all the lyrics mean, that is half the fun of the song right.

Meatloaf is a long time favorite of mine as well...actually met the man in Covington when he and P.Swayze were filming "Black Dog"....

If I had to pick an artist I'd have to say Kenny Chesney a.k.a. the country Jimmy Buffett.....too many similarities in his songs to my actual life...

I'm Not Aware of Too Many Things....

Edie Brickell and New Bohemians song "What I Am" was one of those songs. F me if I know what the lyrics mean but it was playing on the radio first time I got some at a college party with a MILF who was ~10yrs older than myself. We ended up having a Fantastic Weekend while her kid was at Baby Daddy's. Just used each other... well.

"Philosophy is a walk on slippery rocks,

Every time I hear that song.... I smile.

The best break up (fuck you!) song ever written (played it in my car on the way home lol - how in the world could I forget that one?). Just great to let those frustrations out on.

The Black Crowes - Seeing things. That whole album is just incredible, but this is my favorite song of theirs.

Here goes....I was 16 and met a man 10yrs above me. He was new in town and I was taken back from the moment I met him. He had roses sent to my employer with a note attached for a date. I accepted (my mom did not know he was 26.) He was alot of fun to be around and the Sex was incredible. Fast forward to 3+mo of dating... an unexpected guest walks into my place of employment and informs me she is this guys fiance. She drove in from MO to meet me ( he must of told her he met someone.) and to let me know they have a young child together. I am 16 and not ready for this!!

Somehow in all this we all became friends and I became their trusted babysitter. I wanted him everyday, but kept it clean. She and I became the best of friends. We were at the beach one day, her a wine spritzer and me a sprite sharing a bag of M&M's. She told me that she dedicated the song.."Can't You See" from Marshall Tucker" to me because I was the one that stood between her and him. It wasn't long after that, that they moved back to MO.

That is the only song that brings me to happiness and heartache at the exact same moment in time!!

For instance, the Marching Band refers to the Beatles, The Joker is Bob Dylan, The Sacred Store is Fillmore East. The song is a history of Rock n Roll
