According to some books, female sexual dysfunction is divided into 4 basic categories: general sexual dysfunction, orgastic dysfunction, vaginismus, and sexual anesthesia or conversion. The classification on empirical data from clinical files and are summed up etiologically as multiple, involving intrapsychic, dyadic, and social parameters which do not appear to be distinctive for the 4 syndromes. Consider the larger group of Sexual Disorders we find in DSM-IV-TR: Sexual Desire Disorders, Sexual Arousal Disorders, Orgasmic Disorders, Sexual Pain Disorders, Sexual Dysfunction Due to a General Medical Condition, Substance-Induced Sexual Dysfunction, and Sexual Dysfunction NOS . Essentially, a sexual dysfunction is marked by challenges to “normal” sexual behavior. The question is, what constitutes normal and when does it become a disorder? Would like to hear Western viewpoint about this and thank you for sharing...

Right! Nymphomania is sexy and I disagree that it should be associated with failure to reach orgasm, like we discussed earlier, it can be followed by simply tolerance for the good times... I like spontaneous orgasms personally as well. These two are rather blessings and the gifts to have than the curses.
Sorry K, but I case I just ain't as cerebral as I once was. I find that as I get older, I am more concerned about my own function. That is assuming, of course, that our conjunction is functioning for us both at the junction. Besides, I suspect many gents here participate to avoid their lady's dysfunction.

It may feel difficult trying not to let social expectations dictate one's satisfaction of his or her performance; although it all should be about what's good for both at the moment. If you're happy and your lady is happy, that's all that should count, in my opinion. Comparing creates generalizing; generalizing leads to expectations and social stigma.
It is all about letting loose, and doing what pleases the two. As long as you don’t count how many, how much, and take in the moment non-judgementally is the key life’s little enjoyment.
I will also add, if you feel guilty, and subscribe to what society and your preacher thinks, you are never going to enjoy anything.
When speaking of "disorders" one is generally referring to conduct or a disability/dysfunction that causes distress to the individual AND that departs from that individual's societal and/or cultural norms. So a disorder is relative to a subject's background, community etc. What may qualify as a sexual disorder in a conservative culture may be considered normal behavior in another. For example, homosexuality was long perceived as a disorder and I believe even listed as one in the earlier editions of the DSM. I think this has changed or will in the next edition (DSM V). I heard something recently on NPR regarding how transgender and cross-dressers should be defined in the next manual as well. So cultures can vary not only one from another, but also over time. I'm not sure if this really answers your question but hope it helps. 'Later
I think that depending on the individual situation, any, all or none of the categories you describe can be considered a disorder. For any variation of human sexual behavior beyond reproductive vaginal intercourse, "normal" is a relative standard that depends on the culture, social norms, individual preferences and legal regulations. Generally, normal sexual behavior is anything that is mutually satisfying to all partners over time. For some it may mean celibacy while for others it is taking turns blowing the dog. Most of us are in this lifestyle because we believe any consensual relationship is "normal" regardless of the larger social standards and stigmas associated with it. I believe the same applies to mutually satisfying lack of sex. Or, to throw all cerebral relativist arguments aside, a short answer to your question would be the old cliche "to each his/her own."
I have a classmate who just published a book about homosexuality. I'd love to say who and what's the book's called like, but for apparent reasons I cannot.. Homosexuality is a sensitive subject still, with recent history that is constantly changing, luckily for better. Yes, up until 1973, DSM-II listed homosexuality as a sexual disorder. In 1973, the Nomenclature Committee of the American Psychiatric Association, being pressured by professionals and gay rights protesters, recommended to remove the whole category homosexuality and to substitute it with “sexual orientation disturbance.” That diagnosis was applied to those gays who would feel “disturbed by, in conflict with, or wish to change their sexual orientation” (American Psychiatric Association, 1973, p. 44). The change was approved despite of many protests from psychiatrists who sustained their opinion that homosexuality displaces an obsession of the early stage of psychosexual development determined by genetic abnormalities.
DSM-III, in 1980, published a new category that was called ego-dystonic homosexuality. It was addressed to people with tendency to be homosexual arousal, but feels uncomfortable (distressed) about it, willing to be heterosexual. In other words, homosexuality wasn’t the problem, the distress that one experienced was.
You have a problem with women judging your sexuality; I'm actually familiar with some men's skepticism. Once, I was crying during the session from feeling embarrassed of feeling good. When women fake a good time, try to fake like you don't... it sucks. In some situations, you know that your response is not what the other side seeks at the moment (e. g. "Bang! Bang! Thank You Ma'am"), so you're trying to play like a team, pretending you don't care either. Many men are familiar with women's frigidity. Why would some go out there looking for something new and different, yet expect familiarity?
.... Those women might think *I'm* the one with a disorder. LoL :P
Well, "those" women would be wrong.
I did not quote all you posted, but I agree with what you are saying. I also firmly stand behind my statement they are wrong in their thinking. 'Cuz, if they are right, then I have lost the point of my quest for the proverbial chalice. How else did the name hobby come to such popular use if it did not stand for Hot, Orgasmic, Beauties Beckoning You?
define our perspective and understanding of sexuality. Most sexual education is so general, biased and inaccurat that most people do not ever Really get to know the true facts,or even themselves, their likes, dislikes. Sometimes when we do start to figure it out we have to deal with the psychological reaction we have based on what we have learned over time. There are so many ways to connect Intimately and erotically it is natural for our sexual exploration to change over time. When our exploration takes us beyond what we know we tend to experience some fear that can further inhibit our journey. It is the jumping off point...do the same and get what you have gotten or change your perspective and Embrace a new experience. I do acknowledge biological issues sometimes our bodies change due to illness or injury but the majority of the time Its not that and we have the oppertunity to grow Step out of your box lovers! Xoxoxo Tantra anyone?
To make it basic... It is a spiritual path that is is sex positive Think of sexuality as a health subject rather than a moral issue take Eastern spiritual principals applied to sexuality: Non judgement Non expectation (acceptance) Being in the moment Exploring energy When you create awareness aroung your energetic flow you have the ability to alter it through different techniques Exit your reality calm the mind and Time and space no longer exist So much more can be said What does tantra mean to you?
Western commercialization of Tantra practice. I chuckle when I see ads for 1 hr Tantra, it just can’t be done in an hour. Besides, Tantra needs hell of lot of mutual understanding for it to work never meant to part of P4P and that’s where western commercialization comes in.

Yes you are correct western culture usually only recignizes the sexual part of tantra, that is why I think its is really a spiritual path...and you are correct again, tantra is not a one hour experience, the deeper understanding and connection needs to develope it is not for everyone but happens to be a large part of me thanks for chimming in
The problem always is finding a person who is able to let go of life's stress, non-judgemental and enjoying the moment always have been difficult for me.
Enjoy your Tantra. It does bring you different outlook and inner strength. Don't you think?
