I got an email not too long ago DEMANDING I pay for my Las Vegas ad. I ever so politely yet directly let them know I haven't had an ad with them in Vegas for almost a year now.

I really wish they would get their act together. I have met a few of them on one of my trips to LA. Some of the guys are really great. I would tend to think this is a management thing. Too bad they are taking this company into the toilet.

just my thoughts....

a listing that you never authorized in the first place?

Before I explain, let me say upfront that I'm speaking for myself, not TER.

CityVibe has been pulling this BS for awhile now. They start by giving providers a page on their website (without asking the provider's permission). Before you say, "Oh isn't that nice. CityVibe is giving me a FREE AD!" you need to understand why CV is giving you the ad. The way I understand it, TER has an arrangement with Cityvibe so that, if a provider/agency has an ad on Cityvibe, TER will replace the provider's website link in her TER profile with the link to her CityVibe ad. So what did Cityvibe do, they started creating unauthorized ads for providers on their website. Once these unauthorized ads are in place, Cityvibe then reports the link to the unauthorized ad to TER and TER removes the link to the provider's website in her TER profile and replaces it with the link to the Cityvibe ad. As long as a provider has an ad on Cityvibe (whether or not she authorized the ad) TER will not change the link in her profile back to her website.

This reminds me of the "slamming" marketing technique that phone companies have used to hijack your business. Except in that case, at least you got a small check from the phone company. ;) What Cityvibe is doing here is inexcusable! You never asked for the ad and now they're demanding payment.

IMHO, you’re crazy if you renew these ads. My suggestion is to call Cityvibe's bluff. Tell them you never wanted the ad in the first place. If Cityvibe pulls your ad, (I don't think they will) you can then link your website to your TER profile, the way you wanted it in the first place.

Does anyone have any additional ideas?

P.S. Here is the link to a similar thread on the Boston board.

We can stage a Denial of Service attack on CityVibe.  When their servers go down for a few days, maybe they will learn what the word 'consideration' actually means :)

As for a more civil approach, I am out of ideas.

There was a reason I was moderated; and de-listed for a time....was because of this...all the threads I posted on the subject are gone...

I had to send Cityvibe all the links of all the places they had my ad on to get them to remove me from their site after I went exclusive.  After someone spoke on my behalf, they re-listed me, which I do appreciate...I do enjoy this site....

Good Luck!

I've still had no luck removing my first site from Yahoo! Geocities...It's been over a year now...

Sexy Sofia

it was bad enough when CityVibe hijacked your TER profile, now they're demanding payment for renewing the ad that you never wanted in the first place. I started the threads on this topic because a provider asked me if she had to renew her CityVibe ad to stay with TER. LADIES...DO NOT PAY TO RENEW THESE CITYVIBE ADS! CITYVIBE WILL NOT DELETE THEM AND, IF THEY DO DELETE THEM, YOU STILL WIN!

After reading all this crap, maybe my idea isn't such a bad one :)

remember when I brought this problem up months ago ...

cityvibe are sleaze bags
they also post tons of fake ads to craigslist erotic ads

My grandmother knows about craigslist and she died before Al Gore ever invented the internet, and I GUARANTEE Big Shirl and her Krispy Kreme Kronies are big fans of that BS site.  Aren't ya, girls?

*Misspelling of cronies was intentional for the purposes of alliteration and the implication of said alliteration.

They told me that ter was a free site so the info on here is free game because im on here they could put me on there if they wanted.. I just compromised and told them to change my pics... I dont think that they should be able to put us ladies on there without our permission.. if they are an up and up site why would they have to do that ..
