one night while umpiring and during some really BORING games which both ended quickly in low-scoring finishes, I spent most of those 2 hrs counting the licks just for the hell of it. Now, the actual tootsie pop also has a great deal to do with it as well, as some middles are not completely centered and can be done with less effort I am sure.
So, that is one number for the books.
