and I want to slap myself when I forget to put eom at the end of my own because I know what a pain it is when others forget.

It makes it easier to tell later what I have and have not read.

I suspect quite a few others do the same thing. Especially if you are in a situation where you only have a minute or two at at ime to check the boards.
