My recommendation is for you to stay in the area of Atlanta known as Buckhead. Many quality hotels, restaurants, shopping, accessible directly from the airport by the Marta train. A second choice is known as "Perimeter" on the north side of Atlanta generally near where I-285 and GA hwy 400 meet, near perimeter mall. Atlanta's downtown has some tourist attractions and that's where conventioneers stay but not the majority of the local businessmen.  Just my 2 cents.

So I'm planning a trip to "hotlanta" as I hear it's called but as I've never been before I'm not familiar with the layout and am wondering if you kind folks could help me out. Would booking my hotel in downtown Atlanta be good? I don't drive when i travel and i want to be centrally located for the business crowd :) any help would be great -kisses Sabina

Dowtown = dirty bums
Midtown = ok not too bad
Buckhead = upscale,  stay there

Buckhead -- nicest area/big private hotels and some not so big but still in really nice/clean areas
Midtown -- most central but fewer hotel choices
Downtown -- a few big hotels and a few boutique hotels

My house but the only problem is I don't like to share. I would say Buckhead. JW Marriot is connected to a mall. Never knew a lady that didn't like to shop. Good resturants in the area plus I can be there in 30 min.....
