Fun fella who enjoy's a good time.

And I understand what you are saying but I am sorry, I cant call any of these ladies ho's.  I see ho's walking the street and its all about getting off.  These ladies provide much much much more.  Companionship at the minimum and sometimes counseling,  comfort, and friendship.

II agree Roadshow. The  lady who has called me one of her "man whores" was  one of  the few people around me at the time who was a supportive "cheerleader." Family and friends were not as encouraging as she was. However, she has also referred to herself as "Sllut-tessa."  You just have to love her sense of humor.

The women who frequent this board are LADIES and should be treated as such.  As Roadie stated,  they provide "companionship at the minimum and sometimes counseling, comfort and friendship."  They are different from the women who sell sex by the hour,

and would not want it used to describe me. It may be a word to describe a woman who exchanges sex for money but in my book it is the most degrading word in the English language. Now since I find it a very offensive word how could I think this word describes any gentleman I see.

Kisses Haley

Dear Haley:
I was wondering would you prefer the paramour that can not be ignored but only adored. When you are with me there is a sensual way in which you will be amorous with passion as well with satisfaction which will be realized at the height of relaxation.

i agree with haley..that is why i posted the thread..people have different reactions to words..harlot..prostitute..escort..sound better than whore..people have negative reactions to certain words no matter how they are used..i just love the english language..

Maybe my own rationalization and self justification but I am spending my time with woman who are companions, escorts or courtesans and not whores and prostitutes.

I just want to say that I have been n the hobby (which I might add I don't like to call it the hobby but for lack of other words.) for almost 2 years and have met some very respectful nice beautiful ladies. i have met a few that were borderline ladies but thats the way with the world. I don't have a count of how many woemen I have met that are not providers and are certainly not ladies in my book. I mean people use the word whore not only for escorts or providers but also just for a woman who they deem to be promiscuous. Anyway, I think its BS.

as one who consorts with whores. So if you want to use the old meaning of the word whore, ie. prostitute which means the ladies get paid for sex, then yes a hobbyist is a whoremonger. However these words are thrown around as insults. I don't consider these ladies whores. I don't consider myself a whoremonger. There are those that say it's just word play but we are all aware of the connotative meanings that words can have. I don't think the connotation of the word whore is applicable. There are other words that also fall into this category but since you only mentioned whoremonger I'll stop here.

Red for emphasis. It is an annoying misusage but not enough to get me really angry. It is a slang misusage.

1) A ____monger is someone who sells ____.

A fishmonger SELLS fish, and DOES NOT BUY fish. Same for an ironmonger. Steve Jobs was a computermonger.

or

2) A ____monger unworthily promotes something: warmonger, scaremonger, gossip monger.

Mongers are SUPPLY side not DEMAND side.

The word Whoremonger in the dictionary says "one who consorts with whores". Consort meaning to keep company with, to associate with. While the definition of monger says "a dealer in some commodity" and uses fishmonger as an example. I always thought as you stated that whoremonger would be a seller (pimp?) but when looking up the word whoremonger selling is not mentioned and that is the only place I find monger with another word that it doesn't specifically state something related to the supply side.

All that being said I still don't think the term applies. See my previous post as to why.

i'll also concede that some dictionaries are moving toward accepting the slang "consorting" usage. it is something i would rather resist, even if some dictionaries accept it. it just offends the heck out of my sense of language and etymology.

yes, i also tilt at windmills on weekends just for fun. ;-)

I don't care what the dictionary says, we can either act like the stereotypes perpetuated by the media and politicians, or we can act like people who know better.

I prefer the later, which is why I try not to use any of the common terminology which is intended to insult or demean prostitutes and the men who see them.
