Are hotels where you rent a room by the hour. They're anonymous - you pay the guy at the front desk and he hands you a key to a clean room with fresh bed coverings and towels. They are usually modest places, although some cities (e.g., Tokyo) have really fancy places. I forget what the cost is in Vietnam; probably no more than the equivalent of $10-20 for two hours. The women know where to go, so leave it to them.
Very interesting, thanks for the headsup. I think I saw in one of the earlier posts that this was less common in Hanoi than in HCMC. It is good to at least be aware of local practices.

I'm traveling to Vietnam in December and was looking for advice. Have looked through the threads below...very helpful, but not sure what the current situation is. Will be in both Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi for a couple of days.

I havnt been to Vietnam, close but no cigar. This might help you

Bear in mind that bringing women back to your hotel room is a big no-no. The ones you will find in the bars and clubs will bring you to safe love hotels.

Thanks for the advice...i saw the earlier posts. I saw some references to numbered (e.g., 49) bars and clubs, which seems to be the way to go. I have no experience with love hotels, so any advice will be helpful.
