For those of you who hobby on a regular basis do you take a vacation day to hobby ?

I ask this because I see many of the providers have restricted working hours. Also I see how a fellow hobbyist below took off a vacation day just to hobby.  Many times it is a pain in the neck to leave work early to have so fun. Sometimes you get lucky and find providers available on Sunday.

Can't speak for everybody here, but alot of people here have there own companies.
This makes it alot easier

don't take a day off - mostly cause i'd probably have to answer eventually for the missing leave.  lunch dates work well - sometimes you can get off an hour early and catch a provider at the end of her day (which sometimes means you can stretch an hour).  Finally, if you look hard enough, there are a number of services that run til 8 - and some even later.

I suppose it could be negotiated into the contract.  Five hours provider time per week...  If you're non-union/exempt, perhaps you could get it into the "Personnel Reg's"..

If a lady's available at noon, I'll just go during lunch if she's less than 30 minutes away.

If she's not available at that time -- or if it's a longer session, then I use some vacation time (sometimes a half day, sometimes a full day).

In the most recent example, I was going to take a couple of days off anyway, so I just asked for an extra one. Once the appointment got canceled and I didn't need the extra day, I just couldn't bring myself to cancel the vacation day -- if you're a lazy bastard like I am, sometimes just sitting on your ass all day doing nothing is fun in and of itself.

Having an SO makes week-end appointments all but impossible.

Lex, don't listen to the jeop person.  Next time you have some extra vacation time and can't find an available provider, let me know.  We'll go down some Guiness, Pete's Wicked Ale, Sammy Adams, or such.

Hell, I've been known to down a Budweiser or six.

I would drink Budweiser too if things got desperate enough!  Otherwise, I'll stick with the premiums, the imports, or the micro-brews.  Just like my women; I wanna' beer with a good body.  You're right though, I imbibe everything they serve up at the brewery next to Busch Gardens Williamsburg.  Usually, I can choose a Michelob or something like that, at least.  Hey, if you're buyin', I might even manage to choke down some Rolling Rock!  OMG, perish the thought!

Ah, the beauty of the swing shift! Actually, I'm in a tough bind too because not many providers offere morning appts.
