It appears that A-Ron and Tex are earning their keep. Didn't see the game, but saw the hi-lites of their late-game homers when I got home.

Looked like curtains going into the bottom of the 9th...Twnnkies up 3-1, Joe Nathan coming in to close things out.  But it didn't happen that way...Tex led off with a hard single, and A-Rod tied it up with that bomb into the Yankee bullpen... :)

But it was the escaping the top of the 11th...bases loaded, no outs...without any damage that saved the night.  Tex finally ended his mini-slump by ending the game with the HR in the bottom of that inning.  Yankees win... TH-H-H-E Yankees win!!

The funny thing was, when the refs went to look at instant reply, what were they looking at? Surely they had the same angles that TV had!

To the best of my knowledge that play did not come under the replay rule.

So even if the refs did look at the replay the UMPIRES do not give a shit what the refs think cause the UMPIRES are calling the game.

Yes it was a bad call and the UMPIRE crew chief did admit that in a news conference after the game cause he did not see the replay until after the game.

30 feet from the play and looking directly at it-just another big blown call in MLB-It appears that myopia is a prerequisite for umps in the majors-I'm sad for the Twins as I was for the Tigers-Players who work their butts off all year long to be a champ and then are at the mercy of the gross incompetence of some overpaid officials-and it's not the good ones I'm bitching about-Taint right....There, now I feel better...1rob...shades of Don Denkinger (sp)....OUT

Obviously, that was a blown call.  And Tex's HR would have only tied the game in the bottom of the 11th, all other things being equal.

That being said, MLB needs to follow the NFL in having booth replay to prevent this from happening again.  The integrity of the game demands it, even if my team profited from the bad calls.  Still, despite the bad call, it was improbable that the Yanks escaped in that inning without damage.  The Twins had numerous chances to put the game out of reach in other innings, but couldn't capitalize.  Sorry, they didn't deserve to win!
