That's the defense offered by a woman charged in Pennsylvania. News reports (search for the quote in the subject line) indicate she made $400 per day, and saw 5-10 clients. She told a reporter that her rates are $50 per massage.
Detectives worked the case for several weeks. I'm not that great with math, but if the massages brought in $250-500 per day, then the claim of $400 for sex is in the "seriously?!?" range.
She admits to offering massage services without a license. Hoping they drop the prostitution charges and make a plea deal for the license issue.
What a waste of government resources.
as that is most often a misdemeanor, while offering unlicensed massage is a felony at least in my state
on massages, Massage licenses, business premises, fire exits, Etc. Some time ago a member was busted by code enforcement before any services were provided. There was $1000 in fines, plus correcting the faults if they wanted to operate. It was just a way to get the provider to move out of the jurisdiction. And, even if done, would not make sex work legal.
A FBSM gal I used to see (now retired) HAD all the Inspections & business permits... except she improperly locked the door when in session... but itg was a considerable investment on her part as the landlord her no reason to do the extra work.
