No. I'm a provider that recently cancelled a tour. I greatly dislike cancelling on anyone. I have earned a reputation of being dependable and I do my best to stay that way.
No.
Providers are people, just like you. We have lives too. We have shit happen too. Life happens to us all, providers are not an exception. This is one of the reasons I do not have and have never had a cancellation fee. Life happens. Why make it harder on a gentleman that cancels on me? He's already cancelling and probably not happy about why. I'm not going to throw a a cancellation fee at that. Most of the time I see them sometime in the future.
When I decided on a December tour to Milwaukee, I'm experienced enough to know that the holidays and weather are likely not going to be in my favor. I know the chance I was taking and I chose to take it. I had a full calendar then all but 2 cancelled. They all contacted me to cancel so I'm not upset. That's respectful on their part, they did not wait until I was in town to blow me off. I like that.
I travel in from Tennessee, the travel expenses are not cheap. I also pay someone to take care of things at home. Don't forget the expenses it takes to be a provider, advertising, phone, hot spot, clothes, supplies, website memberships, etc. I need to make enough to cover my travel and other expenses as well as make a little profit.
The way I see it, it costs you nothing to cancel on me and costs me nothing to cancel on you. It's an aggravating situation on both sides. I'd rather be in Milwaukee right now however, I did not have enough on the calendar to make it possible. I will not tour on just enough to break even or less, especially this time of year. I need enough on the calendar to make it worth my time.
Cancellations suck, so does spending 3 or 4 days in a city and coming home with empty pockets.
