Quick Question - If a provider cancels a tour should they provide 30 mins of additional time for someone who rebooks when she returns? Or is the feeling you are owed nothing?

Let me here your thoughts

No?  Why would you think you are owed anything? I had to cancel a tour once because I got sick. When I returned I gave the gents that has previously booked first chance to rebook. I am just baffled why you would think you are entitled to extra time.

No.  I'm a provider that recently cancelled a tour.  I greatly dislike cancelling on anyone.  I have earned a reputation of being dependable and I do my best to stay that way.

No.

Providers are people, just like you. We have lives too.  We have shit happen too.  Life happens to us all, providers are not an exception. This is one of the reasons I do not have and have never had a cancellation fee.  Life happens.  Why make it harder on a gentleman that cancels on me?  He's already cancelling and probably not happy about why.  I'm not going to throw a a cancellation fee at that.  Most of the time I see them sometime in the future.

When I decided on a December tour to Milwaukee, I'm experienced enough to know that the holidays and weather are likely not going to be in my favor.  I know the chance I was taking and I chose to take it.  I had a full calendar then all but 2 cancelled.  They all contacted me to cancel so I'm not upset.  That's respectful on their part, they did not wait until I was in town to blow me off.  I like that.

I travel in from Tennessee, the travel expenses are not cheap. I also pay someone to take care of things at home. Don't forget the expenses it takes to be a provider, advertising, phone, hot spot, clothes, supplies, website memberships, etc.  I need to make enough to cover my travel and other expenses as well as make a little profit.

The way I see it, it costs you nothing to cancel on me and costs me nothing to cancel on you.  It's an aggravating situation on both sides.  I'd rather be in Milwaukee right now however, I did not have enough on the calendar to make it possible.  I will not tour on just enough to break even or less, especially this time of year.  I need enough on the calendar to make it worth my time.

Cancellations suck, so does spending 3 or 4 days in a city and coming home with empty pockets.

Anther thing to consider...it takes a lot of time, work and money to properly put a tour together.  When a provider cancels a tour, she already has many hours invested with the intention of the tour working out.  She's already losing. Personally, I'm not getting my money back on some of the travel I booked for this tour as well.

None of us take cancelling a tour lightly.

Did you provide a deposit for said provider? If so, then I would think you should be entitled to it back. If you didn’t, then she owes you absolutely NOTHING. If the shoe was on the other foot, and you canceled on her, should she expect you to give her extra $$$ for nothing?       Like Miss Scarlet, I’m baffled by you even asking the question.

Good point.  I only collect deposits when I'm traveling for a meeting, which I do at times when I tour.  I have a few clients who I see that are 2 or more hours away from where I stay.  I do get deposits from them as it involves usually an entire day to travel, have a nice time then travel back. If it's an out call, I often book a second hotel for myself to sleep if the travel meeting is late so I don't drive back sleepy.  If I cancel on one of these gentlemen, I give the entire deposit back regardless if travel is refundable or not.

I will go out of my way to be fair to anyone who chooses to see me as I see them in their highest light and treat them well with appreciation and respect. I'll lose money to refund a deposit if I cancel, it's only fair.  If I'm not asking for a cancellation fee, I'm not paying one either.
