Sure this may have been discussed ad nausem in other posts, but I have yet to see it recently.  Ok so to make a long story short; I recently “hooked up” with a civvy from the club one night a few weeks ago.  I start by kissing her and then going down on her for some DATY and that is all we ended up doing (pretty ironic I know).  Nevertheless, about four days later I have this pain in my mouth and it is very hard to swallow and eat food.  I thus then get checked out with a doctor and she tells me that it appears to be some Herpes sores caused by HSV-1 or the Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 (which is the term for having the herpes virus but in the mouth).  The test results then confirmed that a few days later, and I am more than 99% sure I received it from that encounter.    
Ok, so now that I know I have this, what’s next for me? Before you guys say anything, let me just say I know! I know ahhh I’m mad at myself for having done that, as opposed to having gone the safer route with the hobby I already know! ? Buy in any event; now that I have this, my question is two-fold:
1) Is my hobbying career completely over?
2) If not, what precautions should I take?
I have been searching like a madman for possible natural cures/herbs to treat the actual virus as opposed to R/X meds.  Really wish The Love Goddess was still around to chime in with some advice!

To answer your question, your best advice is from a qualified professional. That is, a doctor. Don't be embarrass to ask him or her, its their job and that's what they are paid for.

Here is my situation from some of these civvy girls. If I'm gonna take her home, first thing she's gonna do is hop in the shower before I would even consider doing her, especially when she's just coming out of the clubs. Girls often tell me I should bring a microscope when I am about to DATY. I don't just jump right in, I gotta examine that thing first. Some herpes are not visible at certain times, so, that is not always the best technique.

I've picked up some of the most wacked up nut jobs in the bars and clubs in the past. Decided I had to cut them lose and stay away from it. There was this one girl, at first, she seemed normal. When I was driving her back to my house for us to fuck, she all of a sudden started telling me all of these weird stories, then, she started crying. It was like the twilight zone, and I couldn't believe this women was behaving like this. She had to go.

Some of these girls that approach you at the bars and clubs that seem easy, you gotta be careful with those girls. I had my shares of crazy civvie girls. Anyhow, I tell my doctor that I hobby, and he's given me plenty of advices of do's and don't. Only your doctor can tell you how to proceed, and what precautions to take.

After years of getting involved with many, many civilians for short term encounters, I can verify that they include more than their fair share of medical and mental issues.  I live in a resort area, and it attracts lots of nutty single women and married women looking to hook up.  For the most part, they leave their brains at home, and act out in ways that you wouldn't believe.  The worst part is, they really don't know what they are doing from a sexual standpoint, and you have to deal with all kinds of issues.  Many don't know how to give or receive oral.  They are ashamed of their nakedness, and spend way too much time worried about things they shouldn't.

As far as STDs, our unlucky friend from this thread was the victim of a really bad actor. Anyone who has an outbreak of the herpes virus knows it.  And there is very little chance that if it is not immediately visible, that one would be able to spot it while in the middle of a passionate make-out session or DATY.  This is especially true if you need reading glasses, like I do.  So putting your lips on something that you are unfamiliar with is really just a crap shoot.  I love the idea about throwing them in the shower beforehand, but it is not always possible.  

The mental issues can be very challenging, and without a doubt, you risk problems with a semi-intoxicated woman who doesn't really know what she wants or how to get it.  I have had my fair share of weepers and sexually frustrated MILFs who think they need to go home to hubby and confess everything.  This type can be very dangerous, and you may simply be a means to their end, which is to make their husband or SO believe that they are still attractive to others.  I have also been beaten up by a woman (this can happen if you refuse to defend yourself), and have been stalked.  Not fun.

That is one reason that I hobby.  No issues, and no complications.  The good ones are usually pretty sane, and are careful with their health.  And I only see the good ones.  On the other hand, there is something to be said for catching your own fish and having it for dinner

When a women makes a concious decision to be a provider it improves the "relationship" ten-fold.  Both parties understand the rules, the sex is better (if you make the right choice in provider), and everyone enters and leaves happy.

I have had many hooks up with civvy chicks, some ended in a night of crazy passion, others in crazy weeping while we are both naked and my dick in her hands!! The most important thing for you to do is to is to follow the instructions given to you by a physician. I sense you want to avoid prescriptions . Thus you are going to get on line and get sucked into ordering miracle treatments with pages of testimonies and promises. In other words snake oils.

Trust nothing...nothing but what your Dr prescribes. I suspect anything else with be a waste of money and your time. Plus you will be giving your credit card info over to some pretty shady characters.

Hey McD, btw this woman that gave me this is someone that I just happened to have danced with at the rooftop of Eden one Wednesday night lol.  But anyways, back to the larger issue, I am soo lucky and glad that I do not have HSV-2 (genital herpes).  From what I hear that is very painful and that would have been the end of my hobby career…Nevertheless, actually, the majority of the population is infected with HSV-1.  Don’t know how true that is but I found that statement on the newbie board of all places lol! What is troubling though is that the doctor that diagnosed this HSV-1 in me told me it was possible to get it by being intimate, kissing, or even something as simple as sharing a drink, or sharing chapstick!  And about the potential for being scammed, yep I am completely aware of that.  Thanks! I will definitely avoid that and go for a diet that boosts my immune system and cleanses my system as much as possible.  For now I have stuck by meds and have already cured the first outbreak.  I have also found other things that can help both physically and internally.  I am optimistic that one day in the future the cure will be found and revealed to us.  Until then, I will proceed with pre-caution and of course follow the advice from my personal doctor.  Thanks again!

The herpes virus is a nerv born disease that can not be eliminated only surpressed. If you had chicken pox as a child you may develope shingles in later life. the cyclovir medicines are very effective if taken at the first signs of an outbreak. There is also a shingles vaccine. If you've ever had a cold sore you are already infected but so are a large percentage of the population. Don't be embarrased get treatment and a prescription. Since these are generic they are not terribly expensive.
