why do providers ask ....

... to send a photo of the building when you say you have arrived.  That has happened to me three times now, all with Asian providers.   What is the deal here?

Only had one request that. I had the impression it might be to confirm you were actually in front of the right building.

I know often the initial address will just be close and then a new one is given once you arrive.

Interestingly, perhaps, the one time this did happen it was a location I saw a different girl at. That first time I got the close address and then told where the real building was. The next time was a different girl (might have been same number). Got the actual building number but requested a photo.

Thought it was odd but not something that made me worry.

Independent providers I'm assuming. Were they new? They might have been testing their directions.

I would have walked to a different location (rather than take it from my car), so they wouldn't know where my car was parked. Maybe they just wanted to make sure it was you and had somebody watching.

I was a bit paranoid on my first visit to one of the major K-agencies. When I drove in, they told me to take this convoluted route through the parking lot. Then on one of the top floor balconies there was a couple of guys sitting out on a balcony watching cars - this was in the middle of winter. It was just odd. Nothing ever happened, but I thought it might have been a sting or something. Worked out fine.

That being said, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean their not after you.
