I had to cancel my afternoon appointment this morning, and the provider seems quite pissed at me, because she thinks the storm is not that bad, and obviously my cancellation will cost her. I understand her POV, but I explained that my wife and I are both home because the government closed, and I can't come up with a good excuse to leave the house during the storm for a couple of hours.

Any providers want to weigh in with their thoughts?

Thanks, but no, I will not say that to her.

Because: a. she is actually quite intelligent and b. that's not how I try to treat people.

C'mon she has to understand the circumstances though. I haven't done any polls to back this up, but I'd say the vast majority of us are sneaking out when the SO isn't looking. When a snowpocalypse closes everything down and we're stuck at home with her, exactly how are we supposed to get out?

The roads aren't at all bad, and I doubt they will be. Not a meteorologist, but logic tells me if it's barely touched 32F over the past week, then the ground won't be cold enough to hold the snow. So technically you *can* get out to see her, but at the same time you *can't*.

If she's pissed, there isn't much you can do. Send an apology, explain that you can't break away, and see if you can reschedule.

Technically you should have cancelled, because it was in the forecast. This is not a surprise...

I am sure you were hoping that the forecast was wrong, and I can understand.. Sometimes it is indeed off.

But looking outside, even if White House calls me to meet, I ain't leaving my house.. And anyone who gets pissed is too damn stupid..or just hasn't dealt with snow in the DC area. DC is not like other parts of the country where a few inches of snow isn't a big deal..

There's no reason for her not to be fully aware of the storm and know that she was risking cancellations. I wasn't sure how the actual weather would pan out, but I know if there's talk of school and business closures, I should probably take heed. So I cancelled my appointments myself.

There's not much you can do. I would hope it is just a kneejerk, irrational reaction and she'll come to her senses and not hold it against you.

I left home an hour ago where there was 3-4" on the ground in NoVA. I get to work on the VA side of the Key Bridge and it's just rain with almost nothing on the ground. 25 minute drive and the difference in accumulation is pretty drastic.

i have an appt with someone this evening. Now, I haven't heard from her yet (today was her first scheduled day, so she might have planned on flying in today, not sure).  But I made that appointment and if she is at the hotel, you bet your ass I'm finding an excuse to get out of the house. First, I have been building up the anticipation in my head to see this perfect 10 hottie for weeks. That is enough motivation. Second, I feel bad if she makes it to DC and has all her appts cancelled. Think of an excuse dude, it shouldn't be that hard, unless your SO has you completely tied down.

It is not like this storm is a surprise to anyone.  If you knew that there was a possibility that you were going to trapped at home with your wife, you should have taken that into consideration when scheduling the appointment.  She has a right to believe that part was in your control.

Saying the storm is not a surprise depends on when he made the appt. I mean some girls post their schedules months in advance and perhaps he scheduled it back than..Heck I did not know it was going to snow until Friday..And honestly I did not believe it yesterday when the temperature was in the 50's.

So you're not an asshole all the time but you have a split personality disorder. Is that what you're saying?

......the biggest factor in this post is the fact that his wife and he are now both home for the day.  It wouldn't matter if that was caused by snow, locusts or a zombie apocolypse.  The point is that he no longer has the cover of everybody being at work to partake in the hobby, and he doesn't have the OPTION of seeing her without risking divorce.

The only question, in my mind, is one of cancellation fee and that is up to the parties involved, I would personally be looking to re-book her out of respect if nothing else and would be leaving something like a $100 tip in the bathroom on my way out without mentioning it.

But if things have gotten ugly and that has turned you off to her personality, then the situation can't be saved and you move on.  Sometimes you can't take back the words, you know?

The snow is making the hobby a mess this week, I had a wonderful session Monday and I am still hopeful for tomorrow or Friday but with kids home from school, spouses home from work, everything is "wait and see", for a lot of us I would think.

Maybe I over think these things.  If I book way in advance, I always think it is my responsibility to make sure I will be able to make my appointment.  As soon as I see there may be an issue, I contact the lady, and let her know what is going on.  Even if I don't cancel at the time, I let her have the option of scheduling someone else.

It's just that it comes across much differently when written. In person I'm sure it's much worse.
