I think it was a spoof. He made too many bad decisions. Why wouldn't he ask the guys who walked past to let the hotel staff know he was naked and locked out? The hotel looked pretty decent and certainly wouldn't have wanted him waltzing around the hotel in his birthday suit.
And if he was going to go all the way downstairs, why wouldn't he knock on a neighbors door and ask for a towel at least. I think this was done for shits and giggles. It worked though, because I giggled a lot.
I've been at two meeting where this has happened. The guys didn't go to the front desk, though. One used the white courtesy phone, the second did as some mentioned, flagged down a passerby, grabbed a towel, and the passerby went and got security for him.
That being said, I know of some guys in the higher education field who would do exactly as the guy did in the video....people are just wired differently.
Almost every "nice" hotel has a phone on every floor to call the lobby, so there is no need to get on the elevator. And what sane man would ever get on an elevator in the nude with a woman and child on the elevator?? I hope they were paid well to endure that embarrassment.
