On numerous occasions, I would have a client ask me how and if this profession has changed me.
When I reply that after couple years of being paid companion I feel a lot more confident as a woman, less likely to take any abuse and generally feel more in charge of my life, they are surprised.
Stereotypes can be deceiving.
I have enjoyed watching several providers grow from being beautiful, bright, but very insecure women to being confident in their ability to manage their lives and accomplish much more than they ever thought. I've also seen a number of providers build up the confidence and ability to kick out their loser husband or "boy friend" and realize they don't have to put up with abuse, both physical and verbal.
Absolutely not for every woman, but as others have pointed out that group of women never gets in the press. I know they are a minority when compaired to the SW population, but neither the liberals nor conservatives want to acknowledge the succesful paid companion can exist.
The liberals in essence say a woman is too stupid to manage her own business and would never do this work voluntarily so there must be an evil pimp behind it forcing her to work and enslaving her.
The conservatives say that since THEY do not approve of escorting for moral reasons (at least they don't admit they do, right Senator V? Right Jimmy S?) then God told them they must stone all such sinners, or at least humiliate them, throw them in jail, and ensure their kids stay destitute.
