Within this TER universe, what is an accurate estimate of total reviews posted for a provider vs actual appointments taken?   Is it fair to say that only 1 in 10 clients may actually post a review?  Higher?  Lower?

I can assure you that I've seen more than 10 clients in the last year, though the number of brand new clients might not be that far off.

There's no accurate estimate and much of it depends on our dependence on this site. Some of us get all our clients here so they are more inclined to write, or they work for an agency that incentivizes reviews. Some of us use this a reference point but find their clients else where and they don't write reviews.  

Quick question for you: does it matter beyond curiousity?

No it doesn’t really matter, just curious.  In older advertising formulas, you might say 3-5% of total impressions to customers may respond to ads and translate into real dollars.    I do use this medium exclusively to make decisions and some providers seem to have a fast rate of postings in regard to reviews.  Overall, the volume doesn’t matter to me, it’s the complete review of the experience itself.  

I've definitely seen more than 5 clients as my reviews would show. I hadn't really asked people to write one because I haven't seen a lot of clients who are TER members. I was pretty inactive on here for a while but I'm getting more involved now. Honestly, the number of reviews a provider has doesn't reflect her success because then you would have to assume she only sees TER members.

Does this really matter?

If the statistics are so low, it is due in part (although not completely) to TER's draconian review policies. For Examples

1. Unless the girl does certain things (even if you don't ask her to), you can't give her higher than a 7.  

I've actually had a couple of providers ask me to either not post because they can't get higher than a 7 (not because they didn't do what I asked or that I did not enjoy it -- just the scenario in question), and they are concerned about the negativity of not getting a perfect 10.

2. If the girl stands you up, you can't post a negative rating the last time (which she deserves -- regardless of the responses to my prior posting)

When you add on to that people who are concerned about being tracked or retaliated against by somebody, it cuts the number down dramatically.
