Practice, practice, practice. Practice and patience is key when it comes to deepthroating.
For starters you may want to practice on a dildo although there is nothing like a warm penis in my mouth and hearing a live voice moaning with pleasure. Start by giving oral.
When he is wet and lubed take things a little further. There can never be enough saliva. Lubrication is important. Use your tongue to massage the shaft and your hands slowly guide his penis deeper. At this time, get into a position that is most comfortable for you. I prefer to be on top of my partner. I have more control a can watch his response.  
When you are ready to go even deeper, extend the tongue beyond your lips. What I like to do is take my index finger and thumb and make a tight ring around the shaft of my partner’s penis. This ring is my marker of where my lips eventually need to be. Relax your throat muscles and try continually swallowing to take the penis into your throat.
Remember to breath through your nose and take it an inch at a time. The hardest challenge (that I have found) is breathing. Although the gag reflex is a natural involuntary response, it can be stalled by slow nasal breathing and keeping your throat relaxed. This is called “ breathing around the penis”.

I don't have gag reflex, I lost it years ago when I was practicing swallowing "live swords".
I didn't use dildos, bottles, cukes or any phalic shaped object to practice.
I just used enormous dicks of all sizes and shapes.
Lubrication is very important. Lots of spit or phlegm works real good.
Guys loves to see the saliva dribbling down their dicks so it's visual too.

My best friend is a gay man and about 6 years ago, long before I was a lady hired for exclusive service, he gave me some great pointers. I am a small woman with a small mouth and I will be happy to help you out with this.

1. Take a few deep breaths
2. Get it nice and wet, your mouth and his mini-me
3. Work it down slowly. No shoving it down your throat, you need to warm up your gag reflex.
4. Open your throat by opening your mouth very wide and depressing your tongue to your lower palate.
5. Try breathing out as it is going down.
6. Try also humming if breathing in doesn't relax the throat muscles.
7. Try practicing with carrots first and then work your way up to a cucumber at home.
8. The biggest tip I can give: don't think too much about what you're doing. Focus on something like keeping your teeth off Mr. Winky which will keep your mind occupied away from, "OHMYGOD I'M GAGGING."

I have a small mouth as well( according to my orthadontist)but it's all irrevalnnt. The esaphagus and lower air way is comprised of connective and nerve tissue.It's a tricky thing( deep throating) but women like us prove that it can be done!
