Thanks, Kelly! As it happens, I do have to be downtown but I'm going to high tail it out of there by 12:30 or 1. I hope that's a safe bet?

there is a likelihood of motorcades from there to the White House between maybe 5:30 & 7:30, and the just close down major roads and don't care about traffic, pedestrians, etc.  A couple years ago I nearly got all messed up going to meet a provider in Dupont Circle when there was a State Dinner for the President of China.  Since the Chinese embassy is just north of Dupont Circle, they shut down Connecticut Ave. for 2 motorcades & it was dicey even crossing the street.  Plus, I'm trying to call to get room # & there's a cop car at every intersection, not the most comfortable situation.
So Kelly's alert is right on.  Not sure what route they might take from the Embassy to the White House but be assured anything anywhere near the White House will be greatly disrupted.

So there's some Beatlemania event? Mama mia! I'm starting to think metro now.

WASHINGTON - Police will divert traffic around the Washington Coliseum Tuesday for the Beatlemania event.

D.C. police say that Third Street NE between L and M streets NE will be closed between 1 and 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Also Tuesday, several streets near the White House will be closed for the official state dinner with French President Francois Hollande.

From 2 to 11 a.m. and again from 5:30 to 11:15 p.m., E Street NW will be closed between 15th and 17th streets NW. First Division Park and Sherman Park sidewalks will also be closed.

Sidewalks and roads along The Ellipse will be closed to the public from 5 to 11 a.m. and from 5:30 to 11:15 p.m.

...with Blair House going through renovations, the Embassy is the likely alternative, when it comes to accommodations.

Hugs and Kisses,
Kelly
