What is the purpose of aliases?

As with many of my other posts, this has really nothing to do with Washington DC, itself, and though I don't post much, I like the atmosphere here and enjoy the posts of many of the regulars.  So my question is, what is the purpose of aliases?  I really don't understand it, myself.

Some people use aliases, when they post something they seem as contraversial, or something they think a provider would not think highly of. No one wants to get DNS for posting something on the board.

Others use aliases, to attack people or opinions they do not like.

Still others use aliases, to hide how often they post on the board. Thus hoping no one will tell them to get a life.

Called Schizophrenia -

Schizophrenia is a psychiatric diagnosis that describes a mental disorder characterized by impairments in the perception or expression of reality and by significant social or occupational dysfunction. A person experiencing untreated schizophrenia is typically characterised as demonstrating disorganized thinking, and as experiencing delusions or auditory hallucinations. Although the disorder is primarily thought to affect cognition, it can also contribute to chronic problems with behavior and emotion. Due to the many possible combinations of symptoms, there is ongoing and heated debate about whether the diagnosis necessarily or adequately describes a disorder, or alternatively whether it might represent a number of disorders. For this reason, Eugen Bleuler deliberately called the disease "the schizophrenias", plural, when he coined the present name.

Doctors have been sending their patient to TER for managed care - well, at least that's what I'm here for...

No wonder I'm such a MESS after being released from there (or was it escaped?).

We all busted out in one massive escape.  Yea, that was it.  Explains why the place is still empty.  No one's getting me back in there.  They'll never take me ALIVE again.

Besides, CELLS aren't the type of padding I am looking for right now...;})

Like you, I don't know.  Never used 'em myself.  Knowing some individuals who have, they say each one represents another one of their multiple personalities.  Can't really address THAT matter either.  I've yet to develop a personality myself..:)

I use them so I won't get stalked by providers.
