I think you're mostly right, tuna helper, but I suggest let the guy discover more of the nuances, if he hasn't already.  If he's a lonely guy and someone lights up his life for a while, let it happen and be happy for him.  He will soon see that it can't last and probably move on, wiser.  Maybe he's not naive at all, and just loves women -- until the next morning.
