hope it is not inappropriate to post this.

i was emerging from a suites hotel near Rockville Pike and 370 today. i was surprised to find a large group of the Society To Eat Many Donuts. about a half dozen of their welcome wagons were in front.

just in case anyone asks my business there was not related to this hobby. it was more in the line of Prospero giving up his magic at the end of The Tempest. but that is a whole 'nother story.

i did not inquire or deviate from going to my car and getting the hell out of there.

i hope former, current, and future friends are safe and sound.

if anyone knows something more please PM or share on the board. i'm a worrier and don't want to bug the folks i am concerned about.

Maybe if the original poster made himself clear his post might get more response than being cryptic...and then he acts snooty about it to boot!

then why are you brushing aside people's request for clarification?  I don't get it.
Oh yes, I understand....this is a secret message between you and your little brotherhood of goons around here....the TER Elites.  You guys like to separate yourselves from the rest of us.  I've made this observation before and you keep proving me right.

OP was very clear to me ..I don't think he was being snooty, but merely frustratd that some did not understand..

Lets see ...a "Suites Hotel" .. Rockville Pike and 370..Lots of police ...
Probably wasn't provider related anyway, but worth consideration.

Where the hell did that come from? Who are you talking about?

Now I might ask the same of you, "Share on the board" who are you considering are the "TER Elites" and "Brotherhood of Goons"?

Common Moe, let it go. He has proven nothing. His reference while vague was as you noted below a call for anyone working in that area to watch out for leo.

You are starting to sound like conspiracy theorist. Or someone who is jealous from not being invited to join in a " The Elite Brotherhood of Goons"

Seriously, let it go. Personally I don't hang with anyone these days, ya wanna hang with me??? hahahaha

Yea well it's obvious some didn't get it so maybe LE wouldn't either.

But Dude - what the f_ck? You consider references from Shakespeare should be clear and understood by others?? Dude, only you know what the hell you mean by this reference

"it was more in the line of Prospero giving up his magic at the end of The Tempest"

Do you consider yourself as "Prospero"

For those who want a little more reference (not that is matters) -

"However, it must be noted that at the end of the play, Prospero gives up his magic. Shakespeare clearly wants us to see this as a good tick!and necessary action. Magic has set Prospero above the human hierarchy, has made him into a demi-god. This is no more a natural or appropriate position for Prospero than a place as a member of Prospero's family was for Caliban. Although this power has given Prospero great power to lead the others on the island, it has been in the nature of a god that he has led. In order for Prospero to become an ideal tick!human leader, he must give up "this rough magic", and consent to allow his power to flow only from the loyalty of his people.

was to reinforce the fact i was not there on hobby related business. i had an object that was "magical" for me and for a few other people who enjoyed it. as i no longer have use for it i was in the area of 270 yesterday to transfer its custody to its new owner / user. i will miss it. no surgery was required for its transfer. LOL!

now i think that the analysis of the Prospero character makes a little too much of him and i wouldn't see either Prospero or myself as "above the human hierarchy".

if the main point gets across (as apparently it did) why does everything have to be understood? it really doesn't matter.

*communication*

I think you and I both need to remember that on occasion ';-)

if you have to explain yourself or define your terms, you probably needed to lower your estimation of the level of discourse....

...but many of us may fully possess the " higher" levels of cognition required to understand your posts.
We simply find much of your banter to be supercilious, self-bloating, and pedantic.
So, scuse me...gotta catch my Beverly Hillbillies rerun.

however I stand behind my comment as to the efficacy of communication being tied to an appropriate level of discourse in situ.

And *you* just proved my point lol

Oh wait, I am retiring in a couple of weeks for about six months. Going in the hospital and won't be able to play for a while

sorry to cause so much trouble trying to provide a little piece of intel. it seems the folks i know and care about in that area are OK and a provider i have not met asked for specifics and found them actually useful. her group would seem to be OK too.

so as far as the important issues involved here all is good.

with regard to the unimportant issue, my writing:

i don't "talk" over peoples heads. i do talk past folks at times. but you talk past me some times. i sometimes dont "get" what is posted here. i'm not into hierarchical games. i do lapse into writing as if to myself.

when you start paying me for the time and effort necessary to get me to change my style to something more congenial to your reading, THEN and ONLY THEN do you get a say.

short of that, simply ignore what you don't like and have a nice day.

"The reference to Prospero" was absolutely unnecessary in the context. And you *knew* that few would get it.

When I was 12 or less, a was spending the summer at my grandma's, among much "simpler" kids, and one of them once said something that I keep remembering. He said: "Why are you talking like you are smarter than all the others here?"...

sometimes taking a liking or dislike to a poster's "board personna" colors ones perceptions

First - the term "audience" is appropos of any instance of communication, and is normatively used in the field of the psychology of communication and many other fields to refer to the intended recipient(s) of a verbal, non verbal broadcast or written message. The members of the board are your audience when you post and mine when I post.

Second - nowhere did I refer to *my* audience in this thread - take a look back and see whose "audience" we are speaking of.

Third - the post you are over-reacting two was a tongue in cheek message / ironic to a third party. If you read it otherwise you miserad it. If you misread it it is because of your perception of and reaction to my board personna.

You are an intelligent and mature woman with an normally incisive ability to cut through bs from what I've seen of your posts. This should not be hard for you lol.

I leave you the last word

i wanted to assure some ladies that know me very well would get it. the Prospero reference tells them that it had something to do with one of my non hobby activities. but i didn't want to explain what i was doing to the board as a whole.

if i had posted under an alias there would have been no need for the reference at all, but then no possible PM communications. if i had not made that obscure reference i was concerned that some ladies i know well might think i had been caught in some trap, compromised and/or up to some other mischief (like booking a Plan B).

it did seem like a good idea at the time.... to put something out in an open code.
