A good friend did this one for me!!!
?What? I have no References?? or, ?A Funny Thing Happened to Me on the way to the New World?; and a little something about ATM PIN Numbers.?
? and it goes something like this:
When the Pilgrims were going through their first winter here in the States, even though they had plenty of spending money, as well as good credit back home in Europe with the merchants and providers with whom they had always enjoyed good relations with, they still had to endure much hardship. For example, none of the locals would accept a personal check without some really good references, two forms of picture I.D., their phone number, (cell phones were often not considered as sufficient) plus an employer?s name, address and phone number. This in itself was a problem, because many of the Pilgrims were self-employed farmers; and when they were out working the crops, they just carried there cell phones, not wanting their wives to be troubled with business calls, or the odd call now and then from a mysterious friend.
Venturing out into the New World had been a big decision, but the Pilgrims had felt certain that they would be provided with Great References and letters of introduction that would help ensure success in their future endeavors; for they had always dealt fairly and honestly with their friends and acquaintances. However, many of these people, mostly bankers, or people primarily concerned with only money, had in reality, very little concern for the Pilgrim?s future success, and did little or nothing to help.
Meanwhile, in another corner of Plymouth Rock, there was an Industrious Pilgrim named Victoria, who had worked diligently to perfect the ATM (automated truth machine), and now all that was needed was a way to securely access account information. This Pilgrim was no Turkey, and quickly came up with a solution.
She decided that the ATM would require a four-digit personal identification number (PIN), using the digits 0-9. (The first digit could be 0.)
How many such PIN numbers have no repeated digits?
