She doesn't need to check your references if she already knows all about you .
Some guys on TER who don't think they're famous are wrong .
With the amount of reviews you have she probably knows a few of your faves .
A very well reviewed indy who's been in the biz for a while ,  isn't stupid .

As a long time occasional hobbyist I've resigned myself to the burdens of screening. But much to my surprise I today booked an appointment by email with a very well reviewed indy provider who solely on the basis of my hobby email and first name She told me that she would email me the address the night before our scheduled meeting. When I asked if she needed any more screening info from me, she replied that she did not.

I know that not screening clients puts her at risk, but would love opinions from the board on whether there are any reasons I should think twice about going through with the visit.

Note that I'm posting under an alias because this provider has White Listed a number of DC area hobbyists, and I don't want to create trouble for her or them. Thanks.

...many replies, for the very reason you are posting under an alias: no one needs/wants trouble.

Thanks Kelly. I'm also happy to get PMs, since I believe you can now send a PM To an alias.

I've seen more than a few very professional providers that screened/checked references I had never given her, and only found out after the appointment.

The really good ones can screen you and you never know you've been screened.

Keeping it simple. If she has done it with you, she has most probably done it with others.
Once could do this for years and never be targeted. Correspondingly one could do this just once and get "popped". It is an old tactic for LEO to create similar e-mails to known hobbyist and take advantage of one's lack of attention to detail.

As for should you see her? In this case not for me to say or offer an opinion on that specific aspect.

Go in peace.

Sincerely,

...and all those that follow. I personally would not see someone who did not screen me diligently. Just my 0.02.

That from time to time there are some hobbyists whos names spread like wildfire and need no introduction Good or Bad. Also keep in mind that some ladies use more discreet ways of screening background checks, phone number checks etc etc. You'd be surprised what can be found out by your email address or phone number.....just sayin !

Just went through the opposite of this. Redundant emails back and forth where I asked for a name and number 3 times. Finally, it was the third time when he said he wouldn't give me any information.

"Why don't you check my references on Date-check?"

"I did. They're stellar. And I still want a name and number."

"WHY??"

"Because part of my screening process is a voice verification. I'd like to chat briefly with you, go over details, and you can talk to me as well, feel me out. I'm not asking for your tax returns. I'm asking for a name and number."

"I won't do that."

"Then thank you for your interest."

Sorry, my heart does not go out to them. It's not just my safety, it's OUR safety. If you're gonna hobby, this is a no-brainer. And yes, I'd be REAL leery of a provider who doesn't ask for minimum information.

But that's just how I roll

Whenever I toured I've always used personal assistant who screened for several ladies.  On more than one occasion a gentleman would contact me and there was no need for screening as he has seen someone that used the same assistant.

goes out to ladies and gents who have to go through the screening thing

Thanks for everyone's feedback. Several of you have suggested that she could have quietly screened me. Is only my first name and hobbling email (which I don't use for any other purpose) really enough info for that? Keep in mind that I've only communicated with her by email, and I haven't even given her my TER board name. Thanks.

She could have popped your email address in to the TER white listing look up & come up with all the info she needed.  You could always ask how she screened, without further information.

Have you screened her and do you trust her? I recently saw a lady that screened me based on years of board postings and some of the ladies I had seen. We had an absolutely wonderful time.
At the end of the day, trust your instincts.

It is very possible that through your email she found your TER Handle, which led her to your White List, which led her to your referrals; (who she most likely contacted) as well as personal info. So, more screening may have been done then you thought. Although, it all depends on what you have out there.
