I came across a neat little article in Scientific American about a study that shows that semen makes women... well, happy!
Yes, it sounds like I'm stating the obvious but, let me explain.
A group studied how semen affects women's bodies and found that semen contains things like "cortisol (known to increase affection), estrone (which elevates mood), prolactin (a natural antidepressant), oxytocin (also elevates mood), thyrotropin-releasing hormone (another antidepressant), melatonin (a sleep-inducing agent) and even serotonin (perhaps the most well-known antidepressant neurotransmitter)".
Another study found that a survey of college women who "never" used condoms showed fewer depressive symptoms than women who "sometimes" or "always" used them.
"By contrast, sexually active women, even really promiscuous ones, who used condoms were just as depressed as those practicing total abstinence."
I'm not advocating unprotected sex because we all know what kind of risks that carries but, I thought this was an interesting piece of information to share.
