I had heard that because the "Bush" tax cut extension had taken so long to get approved that the forms wouldn't be printed and made available until Feb 2011.

I don't even have 1099s, W2s and other needed info yet.  In fact, I got a letter saying they may not be sent until sometime in Feb.

May be the OP uses standard deduction. You can file early if you use standard deduction, if your company sends you W2. But its very uncommon for companies to send W2s this early.

My company had electronic w-2s sent yesterday, and I used turbo tax. I filed the electronic equivalent of a 1040-ez.
