Folks -

I've got to be in Tysons tomorrow for two events - but unfortunately, they're hours apart from one another - ie, one's a breakfast meeting, the other is a late afternoon meeting.

I don't want to schlep back to Maryland, but would rather do what I've done a handful of other times, in other places - find a hotel where I can sack out, do a little work, relax, etc.

It doesn't have to be too fancy, but I'd rather it not be a flea trap.

Any ideas of decent short-stay hotels, or hotels that have day rates in/near Tysons?

You wont find anything like that in Tysons Corner. Mostly 5 star hotels there

..the same date for check in and check out.
Tyson's is around 399-999.
Arlington and Alexandria have lower rates.
"Day Rate" hours are 9am-6pm.....at 399 a night you may wanna catch a nap in your  car or hit a pub or two.
Ladies should avoid booking a room for the "day" unless see' one client during employee shift 7a-3p and another after shifts change at 3p.
So, I you have a play date tomorrow and shes out all only the see if se can meet you in Arlington or Alexandria.
Pm me I you have any quesions or post here but e cautious of whats posted ex: hotel names (I know I know, if they (LE)  wanted me they'd have me.....I'm more concerned you pervet horn dogs and the emotionally disturbed would flock to a ladies incall like Buzzards and circle that hotel all night....you know this..lol)
Stay fun and be safe.
Smooches,
HOA

PS...PM sent with links to get ya rolling.

$400-$1000 seems way too much for me. Sure, that area is affluent, and I have stayed down there before several times. I don't remember paying $400 on any occasions. Maybe it is probably because I booked on hotwire or another internet site. Last time, I remembered paying $140 a day, and that was at a great 4 star hotel with a indoor swimming pool and other accommodations. Guess, it helps if you book ahead, cause, there is no way I am paying $400 just to sleep, no way.

As for the OP, you might as well book something that is cheap. There are some very cheap motels down in that area. Maybe like redroof inn, or comfort inn. You might pay $120 at most. If you just need to burn several hours, do what Heather said if applicable and book an afternoon. However, if I was you, I'd probably sleep in my car, go to the public bathroom at a convenience store and freshen up. Or, burn some time by doing a bit of shopping or browsing the area around, and maybe grab some lunch.

BTW, DO NOT speed on I-66 or anywhere near NOVA. Depending on where you coming from, as soon as you hit the Virginia boundary, cops are everywhere waiting to give you a ticket. Trust me, I just got back from a date on I-66 towards Manassas, and this police officer stopped me. I was doing 87 MPH at night time around 1:30AM driving on the slow lane trying to avoid detection. All of a sudden, I saw the blinker light on. Dude told me I was speeding and cut me a break. He wrote 74 MPH on a 55 MPH lane. You don't even want to know how much that ticket cost me. Ridiculous! Anyways, enough with my drivel, it's only a tip to avoid speeding since your going from place to place. LE is always watching.

If you were going 87 mph on 66, you should have gone to jail. You must be hot!

Normally anything over 85 is wreckless driving in VA.

odometer. Like I said previously, he cut me a break, and I was respectful towards the police officer, and said "sir" during greetings and salutations. 87 mph is not a lot, I sometimes max that out on a long stretch of the highway when there is no cars around.

During my retreat towards West Virginia, I did 147 MPH on the freeway to test my car out. I got pulled over and got a $500 speeding ticket, did some driving education classes, and went to court. He didn't put me in jail even with that speed limit. I guess, since I was so nice and respectful towards the police officer, and was upfront about the situation, he was okay with it.

I guess, YMMV even with LE. BTW, I've done some crazy shit with LE before in the past, and they don't never seen to care what I do. :)

Why not look up a provider and pay for a snarlin and get a place to stay at the same time.  Won't be much more than getting a place alone.

a straight strecth of road?

147mph? You should have been put under the jail and had your license suspended for 10 years. Public highways arent race tracks. You want to drive that fast, go to a race track where you can kill yourself and not alot of other people.

aren't many cars on the road. Visibility is important if I want to drive as fast as that. Sorry, meant to say, on my way to West Virginia. If you drive west from Virginia, you know that it is country hill billy in those neck of the woods, and it is basically farm land and long roads.

I can see at least several miles straight on the roads at certain points, which helps limit my chances of endangering other people. None the less, I understand your point, and my driving does affect other people. That does not excuse my behavior. However, its calculated risk, and I always weight the advantages and disadvantages.

I would not have driven that fast if there is no possible way. I was lucky, I guess I have always been lucky. The only thing I had to do was to pay a very large fine, and another ticket. The officer knew my situation, and I don't think he would want to jeopardize my career. He knew the roads were long, didn't have many cars, and I think that is what factored in his decision. It's common for some people to speed on those roads.

Anyways, you have a valid point and I will reconsider my driving behavior.
