I wanted to lighten the discussion today and chat with the ladies and gents for a minute about the best that DC has to offer in terms of food, wine, music, men and women! Those that know me well know that I am a consummate foodie and during my last stay I frequented brunch at the Tabbard Inn and sushi at Sushi Taro and a few other places, but I wanted to get everyone's take on what they consider the best eats and drink the city has to offer.

to wait in long lines if you go to Georgetown Cupcakes. That place has cult following. Also another titbit of information - Ray's is the same place where the President and VP went for lunch. The burger is so good that the President even took PM of Russia and England over there...

I wouldn't go to a cupcake place at gunpoint. That's a trend that has already become trite.
As for hamburgers, if that's your thing, then Ray's Hellburger is the best example in the 'burbs....but the two best hamburgers in DC are Frank Ruta's at Palena Cafe and Peter Smith's at PS7 over by the Verizon Center.
There is no better fine dining in DC than at CitiZen in the Mandarin Oritental. Eric Ziebold is the chef there, and he is now as good as his mentor, Thomas Keller, under whom Eric worked at the French Laundry. You can go solo and snag a table at the bar, and for less than half the price you can eat the same dishes that the prix fixe diners are paying $200 a cover for.
Some gems that don't get the same attention around town are Corduroy, Rogue 24, Central Michel Richard, Komi and Fiola. Not a bad meal to be had at any one of them.
[Of course, if you have a Senator as a client, the best Bean Soup in town is at the Senate's private dining room....!]

I ate at Nahtinya! LOVED IT! I actually have some friends arriving Friday and we will all be heading there for dinner.
Def agree with Blowtorch's recommendation on G&M for crabcakes!
Ray's is great for burgers, but my ATF (and fellow foodie) and I are favoring BGR (multiple locations) and Good Stuff Eatery (Pennsylvania Ave SE) for burgers.
For great lobster rolls, try Luke's Lobster on D St NW near the Verizon Center.
My ATF's and my fave sitdown restaraunt is Founding Farmers on Pennsylvania Ave NW. Fantastic food, locally grown, and not as high priced as many of the higher-brow DC places!
Indique has really great and -- duh - unique -- takes on indian food. Spices just a block closer to the zoo for asian food -- they have a bit of everything.
Ardeo/Bardeo is a great dining and drinking combo and when the weather is nice the full length windows are opened.
in the city, the restaurants at the Kimpton hotels are hard to beat. Urbana and Firefly in Dupont and Poste near Chinatown.
The Georgetown Waterfront as been the scene for almost two decades. Very cliche, but hot people watching.
