Stupid on my part going to an AMP, but I had been driving for 6 hours and needed a massage, etc.
pulled into Kinja in Woodbridge, VA... stayed 45 minutes or so... table shower, massage and at end, a HR.  Nothing else, although girl tried to negotiate...
I drive out of lot, and within 45 seconds, get pulled over for "suspected drunk/reckless" driving...at 4 in the afternoon!  Whatever.
I agree to let car get searched (but he did not)
I get patted down, and pockets get turned out (this freaked me out)

then puts me in his car and asks "do you know why I really pulled you over??" and I cooperated. Cop was investigating this place for organized crime, he promised not to arrest me (didn't do anything wrong, now did I?)
wanted to know what went on, how much I paid (70 to get in, and a 20 tip) I wasn't looking for sex.
Just a heads up... STAY AWAY from this AMP!!!

This has to be the only instance I have ever heard of where someone who is in the sights of any investigation was not hurt by “cooperating” with LE. The cop never has your interest in mind and is allowed to lie to you to further an investigation.

You confessed to a crime and half the cops out there would arrest you for it, even if they said they would not. He has already pulled you over, searched you without probable cause in public, and placed you in his car. You had no reason to think it would get any better from there. Now you are at the least a material witness if they choose to prosecute, so your pain may not be over.

I am not a lawyer, but I’ve known plenty of LE agents and I watch TV (this scenario plays out on 2 out of 3 episodes of NYPD Blue or Law and Order).

The two golden rules:
1. Never agree to any search without a warrant – this is your right as a citizen of the US, and 9 times out of 10 is to your advantage.
2. If you are a party to any investigation do not agree to talk without a lawyer present. Do not agree to be detained, if you are not under arrest. Be respectful, but insist on your rights. Name, rank and serial number, that’s it.

This cop may try to bully you, but he can’t do much more than that until you incriminate yourself.

How does someone get access to the back channel?

They are not telling alot of things. As you said before, you have to tighten up your screening process.

Has this board really come to a point where we are giving people advice based off what we can see on a fictional TV program?

You have got to be kidding me.

I think I would have used an alias too if posting something so preposterous. Notice I did not use an alias in my response.

what people refer to passing information to each other through PM's.

in other words if one member passes information to another member via PM, that is called backchanneling the information.

Be nice - you don't know that what he suggested is based on fiction or fact of law. He is correct in his statement where LE will lie in order to coerce you into incriminating comments. While they can lie, you cannot. If you are caught lying, they will have you for false statements. While it is possible to use intent or probably cause to CYA - the courts will accept the fact they were pursuing an investigation and the lie of being pulled over for other reasons won't make a difference.

Unless you confess, they have nothing to hold against you as they did not catch you in the act or have already proven the intent of anyone to visit this place should be reasonably assumed by priors or history. Deny, evade answers, or say nothing isn't always as easy as you would assume while you are under pressure and obviously guilty - try a poker face - LOL...

So, I hope the original poster realizes how he could be brought into a case against this place from his confession. Which will become public information regardless of what the LE told him...

And I agree with you Chris - the use of an alias to blast others with criticisms is unacceptable and a sign of cowardice. While some of his comments were suggesting alternatives, the post was more of a harsh criticism of what he had done wrong and an baseless opinion of what another would or should do - unless you have a recorded history of conflicts with LE, you won't know what to do or say when they come down on you...

So, in the future – please consider not using an alias – it gains more respect and consideration when you aren’t hiding behind a mask

Oh - and please, don't post what you know based on fictional TV shows - kinda ruins the credibility.
