Try the Kefa Cafe in Silver Spring, small place on Bonifant Street a block off Georgia. They are really nice and serve great java. Plus they're a local small shop that needs the support in the face of SB on every other corner. Mayorga is a good one too.
Fuckin Starbucks. I can't believe how much of their semi decent drinks I've been drinking lately. And I just heard they're refusing to sell Springsteen for prurient references on his new album. Not that my 10 bucks a day will do much but so what-fuck them. Can anybody give me refs for good espresso drinks in DC? Preferrably a small local roaster who doesn't have his head up his ass. I see Cosi's everywhere are they any good?
I used to be hooked on their iced coffee....The caffine was just the jolt I needed (helped curb my appetite too) The one I went to was by the Judiciary Square Metro on 4th/Indiana Ave N.W. It was a 10 min walk for me but I LUVED IT...
Best coffee in the city, IMHO, is Quartermaine. They used to have several locations, but now are down to a store at 4817 Bethesda Ave in bethesda. They roast in Rockville and also sell whole beans and teas on the web. By far the best coffee in the area.
