Sociology of DC area???

Okay guys, what are the possible reasons that the DC area is high in no-shows and no-calls?  (None of this, of course, applies to the gentlemen to regularly post here.)

Is this area full of scaredy cat bureaucrats who get cold feet and bail?

Is is too full ot type A guys who think they are too busy to call to cancel?

Or are there too many computer jockey wanna-bees who imagine they would like to hobby, and play at it, but don't?

(Oh, and how can this board be "critical," when there are so many white knights riding to ladies' defenses and so many PC guys who scold not to say anything that might be mean?)

I suspects the no-shows are probably not on this board (at least not the contributors). Otherwise I don't have a clue. There could be some pompous folks from government who think they are more important than the others. The other theory (I don't have any info to support this, but it has been suggested here) is that some local indies arrange these no-shows to discourage out-of-towners.

A few providers have said to me that they get cancellations due to people being so busy in this area moreso than other areas. That makes sense since it's pretty fast around here. As for no shows - I have no clue. I guess they wanna be blackballed.

Amanda, I give plenty of praise to most of the providers who I have seen.  This is because I try to utilize the TER resource to select them carefully, up front.  However, I have criticized some providers, both for their performance and their business practices (lack of service or non-responsiveness).  In fact, I had a review challenged which was somewhat critical (but I do not believe overly so).  I have found that a lot of the ladies in the business are quite averse to criticism.  Some have tried to "make me pay" for giving it.  That might be one reason why many hobbyists are afraid to criticize.  They are afraid of being "black balled" by the providers.  I, on the other hand, refuse to be intimidated.  I might be one of those rare guys who feels that self-esteem is more important than even getting laid.

...but I'm delighted to see that someone else on this board is no fan of the Old Republic.

Having lived here too long I can say without a doubt gils having no shows are victims of the "no one is as important as me syndrome". It is pervasive here to a degree more than any other place Ive ever been, including New York City. If any of the readers here have doubts, spend some time in other places. You will find a remarkable amount of civility exists in other towns, even big ones. Sorry to be seem so cynical. I'd be happy to listen to other views if any have one to offer. lol

I was at the '84 Demo. convention in Frisco. At the same time COYOTE (Cast Off Your Old Tired Ethics) was "convening" there, really a group of providers in town for the business.  The provider interviewed on the news said, "This is the last time we come to the Demo. convention.  They are all screwing each other.  At least the Repubs. wiill pay for it."

Amanda,
If you are specifically referring to Karl, Dick or me we are all very sorry (you don't know how sorry). We have been rather busy with keeping this country safe from evil doers.
Yours truly, rummie

I think that a lot of guys set something up with a girl, but continue to shop around for a better deal.  That way they have an ace-in-the-hole if the better deal doesn't materialize.  When the better deal does arrive, they don't bother to give the first gal the courtesy of a cancellation call.  I've been known to shop on occasion, but rarely.  I usually don't set things up very far in advance, so I am always scrambling to get on someone's schedule last minute.  I have never no-showed a girl, but I get cancelled or no-showed a lot because my tendency to call at the  last-minute.  I think some of the gals shop dates too, so all in all, this just seem to be a reality of the hobby and biz.

It's difficult to point at one specific issue but here is my assessment. There are some who are rude and just will not confirm.  There are others who book, change their minds, or get cold feet, then don't have the courage to cancel.  There are even others who adore their favs so much they are willing to "waste" a visitor's time.

This forces some ladies to request deposits, which then brings the board to an uproar.  In fairness even the local ladies are at times hit with no shows.  I wish I had the answer to this problem but I do not.  Some ladies come here and are booked solid, others get tons of no shows and others are in the middle.  I would not take it personally.  Ladies who have been seen by "well known" posters do seem to fare better as the lurkers or newbies somehow feel more "assured" of the legitimacy of ladies.  For this reason I sometimes take one for the team knowing that maybe someone else may see a lady if I have a good session.  Now I'm no one special but I'm lucky enough to have enough reviews to give "some" legitimacy to ladies.  But then again what do I know.

...very, very funny.  But I am sure the no shows of your administration only negatively affect the relatively small dominatrix portion of the industry.

I have had some problems where local providers are no show and no calls. If you read the other board there is a tendency for people to book up appointments, then do a no-show and/or no-call. Then the visiting provider is forced to have reduced prices to get booked up.

I can't speak for those that are No-shows,( I think that stotally classless)  However I do think there is something to people getting "cold Feet."  I personally think the reason for that is there are too many providers that are NOT being discrete.  Too many providers are adding a second level to their business, blackmail.

People go to "providers" primarily because there is no "drama".  The concept was this was a discrete business.  Nowadays, some providers get possessive and, if you haven't used their servces in a while, they will harrass you.  Because of these providers, I decided to take a break from the game.  In sum, I think the "professionalism" is gone and unfortunately, quality "businesspeople" suffer and lose money.
