This brings up something that has always been in the back of my mind. I've read in multiple locations that out of the DC/MD/VA area, that VA was the least friendly to the hobby. Can anyone tell me why this is? Is it just that LE in VA addresses this issue whereas DC and MD just look the other way? Or is there some other factor involved.

Additionally, does anyone know if the penalties in VA are worse than DC/MD? Do LE usually target providers or clients? I've personally never had a run-in with LE and was wondering. (Counting my lucky stars and knocking on wood right now).

Anyone have any thougts/useful insight into this?

For better or worse, VA leans towards its southern roots - especially its bible-belt traits - while DC and MD tend to be much more cosmopolitan in their attitudes.  

Moreover, there are really three Virginias: the DC metro area, east/central VA (the Richmond and Tidewater areas) and western VA.  All three have distinctly different attitudes about things, but politically and socialologically the central and western regions overpower the DC metro when it comes to "blue" laws and the like.

Remember, VA is the only state in the country to make police radar detectors illegal, because the politicians like to keep that ticket revenue flowing and don't mind trampling rights (as well as federal statute) to do so.  That same mentality spills over into other areas, including the prudish stupidity of their attitudes about sex.

Your post isn't very helpful.  If there's a problem, you should describe it, not require emails to you.  At the moment, you've just hurt the business of Va. providers.

Well, I don't think Lizzy wanted to get too in-depth into what she was talking about, especially not on a public forum.
