HI,
To use the "Find" window, just click on the "Find Message" button on the lower left corner of your screen.  Type in the name of the item you want to search for (e.g. Claire) and either leave the time span at the default 30 days or in the case of Claire, you will need at least 90 days to find a really nice thread in Feb. which answers all your questions.
