DC is the only major city that I have ever been to that seriously lacks in good looks. On top of that all I hear is just how wonderful DC is by its own people. DC for lack of a better term SUCKS!!! Before you all start to bash me let me make my point.

1) This crapola about stable employment??? This is not really a good thing. Yes, a government job may pay the bills but lets face it that nobody is gonna get rich on a government employee salary (especially not fork over $700-1000 a week for hobbying). Other places that combine tourism with the recession proof entertainment industry like Los angeles or the recession proof Tech industry combined with year round tourism like San Fran, or the recession proof narcotics industry combined with tourism like Miami beach, totally leave DC behind. All DC does is toot its own horn about how wonderful it is and how amy JOBS are here HAHAHAHAH.

2) There has always been a shortage of beauty here. Having gone to High School and College here, I can attest that almost all the hot women here are imports. What gets to me is that once a hot girl gets here and starts providing, she quickly realizes that she can own this city after a couple reviews because she towers over the 8s who are really 6s on TER. Then she sets her fees accordingly.

3) The weather here is awful. Have you not noticed that at 5 PM it is as dark as midnight? When is the last time that you went to the beach (that did not involve an flight), or hiking in the mountains, or went kayaking, surfing, fishing, or went to a cultural event? This city has ZERO geographic beauty. Well, if the extent of your life outside work and the hobby is limited to 30 minutes on the treadmill, happy hour with the rest of DC's cutthroat lobbyists, lawyers and political wannabees and watching the embarrasing Washington Wizards and/or Redskins I am sure you are loving DC.

4) Costs are relatively higher than just about everywhere else when you weigh in what comes with the package of living in DC. Where I come from in Hawaii the rent for a 1 BR apartment in Kihei will cost you about the same as the cost of one in Dupont Circle. The only difference is we have no roaches, the beach is a 4 minute walk, parking is free, there is no shortage of beautiful women (locals, immigrants and tourists) and way less crime.

I could ramble on and on about how DC sucks but I want to go watch the Saints whup the Lions. Thank you to the girls who provide for us because if not for you I would be sucking down antidepressants and Jack daniels by the hour. Unfortunately, I am stuck in DC for at least a few more years.

I am sure if you compare DC to many cities especially ones with double digit unemployment, it may seem like a paradse. However, comparing DC to just about every major city it may not suck but it certainly is nothing to write home about. If all the city has to offer is government jobs, then that is pretty pathetic.

I dont want to come off as argumentative but please tell me some good things that DC offers?

I recently toured here and had at least 7 cancellations, but ended up going home early due to an ear infection anyway. My first tour everyone showed up, so I guess it varies. If I wouldn't have been sick- I probably would have been really upset about all the cancellations.

I've been in the hobby for a while, longer than many in fact, and aside from a few travels, all in the same DC area.  We had a few great years of our hobby and visiting providers used to make DC a top destination.

For a while now, I've noticed that the quality of providers in DC is slipping...and at an increasing rate.  I find it interesting that I am able to book a relatively short notice appointment with stunning girls in NYC, San Fran, LA, LV, and FL....oh, FL how I do enjoy thee (Tampa and Miami, particularly).  In Tampa, a great strip club called mons something (?), had amazing centerfold-quality strippers naked for $10 lap dances!  I digress from the intermittent joy of memory to get back to my point, what's going on here!?  Stable employment stats, high disposable income, and decent weather (especially today).  Some suburban areas of Jersey have considerably higher quality and variety than our entire area.  I know, I know, YMMV, but I am talking about a generally agreeable attractiveness, and trying to appeal to your intellect and not banter.  So, what is it?  Do we suck here, am I blind, or have they just not realized how great of a destination DC is??!!  Open discussion, thanks for your input.

if this is just a rant or what...Seems that way. If you want a meaningful discussion, you need to provide with examples of what happened.  Just providing a link of one of CDC's girls is not going to help towards any meaningful exchange.

I spend more time in the DC area than anywhere else, and I have not noticed a significant change.  A lot of my old favorites have moved on, but in general it seems DC still has some good selections.  I never found that DC had the best/most 18-20 y/os--the clientelle in DC seems older and often seems to better appriciate slightly older ladies.

By the way, it's Mons Venus, and yes, it was very good.

Yeah this town sucks balls when compared to other towns but seems like there are sufficient amount of visitors that keep me busy.

Like you, I'm stuck here for a few more years so sometimes when I become aware of a cute lady somewhere, I 'import' her for a few hours.  Not a bad alternative solution although it costs a bit more.

I travel the country for work, and I don't see DC as the bottom of the list... it might not be #1 for everything hobby related, but it is far from the bottom of the list.... That being said, what grade is DC? maybe a B-  or C+

My response in no way is critical of the great babes that are local here nor the few outstanding ladies that continue to tour here. But the fact is compared to other great cities DC is no longer to be considered a top tier area for the hobby.

Probably several reasons for this.  But in my opinion based on what out of town babes have shared with me , this area is known to be risky for the ladies.

I know several of my faves have stopped touring here. Many I meet when I travel express a reluctance of visiting DC.  

Maybe our population base should not create the expectation that we might have the same hobbying culture as NYC...Chicago...LA..LV.....but still!!!

So maybe that's why less ladies are touring DC.

but for several of the things you mention it's certainly not DC.

-DC is not the crime infested place it was in the 70's and 80's.  Now it compares favorably with most other major cities.
-The DC restaurant scene is universally acknowledged to be very good.  It's definitely not "below average."
-Public transportation is excellent in the city.  The system doesn't run all night but it does a good job.
-Georgetown, AU, GWU, Catholic University - these are not mediocre universities.
-If by "arts scene" you mean acclaimed galleries, then yes DC is lacking in that regard.  But given the large number of world-renowned art museums, the Kennedy Center, numerous theaters - Studio and Woolly Mammoth are not "amateurish", and a decent number of local music venues, it's hard to say that DC has a "non-existent" arts scene.
-There is a lot more going on here than government jobs.  The government has been shrinking.  The boom in hiring is coming from the private sector.

Risk outweigh the rewards.

... that for every 25 inquiries I get from the DC area, I'll be lucky to get half the screening info I need from 24 of them within the first 5 emails.  From that one who is actually willing to be screened, it takes usually 10 or more to get to the deposit agreement portion of setting up a date.  And of those who have agreed to forward the necessary deposit, roughly half of them back out/cancel within a week of having agreed to forward it.  In my experience, this is unique to DC.

Now, I did meet some great gents from DC last year when I came through (and have seen several of them since) and I'm looking to meet a few more quality friends at the end of the month, but if there's a complaint that not enough "quality" girls visit/live there.... this might be one of those "man in the mirror" moments.

* Living downtown is not expensive it is overpriced. Living in the Burbs or across the river is expensive.

* Georgetown is the only one. Who comes to DC for treatment and to what hospital? If anywhere close I would assume that Hopkins in Baltimore would be the closest since they have a world class oncology dept, but that is Charm city not DC.

* Corruption: Yes you have a point about all cities having a degree of corruption but simply acknowledging that there is a universal problem does not lessen it.

As an UTR, independent courtesan, my business is booming.  I chose to move to DC, many years ago, and have never ben happier. To contradict your list:

*Yes, the cost of living is high if you live downtone, but you pay for convenience.  If you want to live in the burbs, or across the river, you will find lower rents/mortgages.

*Ugly girls.  Not sure when you will get laid again by a local after that comment.  Most of the local talent is UTR, and only advertises on a few sites.  Many locals get business from their gentlemen friends, who refer them to others, or work with the bartenders/concierges at the four and five star hotels.

*No beaches.  I don;t care about the beach, and if you want one, you can be on one in a few hours.  Mountains.  The mountains in our area might not be the Rckies, but they are beautiful, and if I want the Rockies, that is what NetJet, or United is for.

*Zero outdoor activities.  You have never visited our wine country, hiked the Appalacian Trail, or run the monuments at sunrise.  

*Mediocre universities.  Georgetown, and others are consistantly ranked very high on many levels; especially in medicine.  Why do you think all the foreign leaders come to DC for treatment?

*Government jobs.  That is pathetic.  Yes, DC has a large number of government employess, but most do not live in the district; they live in the burbs.  I do entertain a few government employees, but most of my clientele work in the lobbying, legal, policy fields, or are consultants/contractors.

*Sports teams.  I am not a fan of our sports teams, but a true fan stays with their team during their darkest days.  Some of my best dates have been at one of the areas sporting events, or at one of the small college venues.  

*Corruption.  Please tell me one large city, where the local politicians are not corrupt.

*Crime.  Not sure where you hang out, but I have walked one end of this city to another, and have never had a problem.  Granted, I'm not walking through a dark park at 2 am, but I wouldn't do that in any city.

*Dark winters make for great indoor activities!

*Strip clubs.  Missing something here.

*Awful traffic.  Not if you live/work downtown.

*Rats.  New York has larger rats than we do, and I have yet to see a roach in my hime, or the hotels I visit for outcalls.

  I have heard from many ladies that used to tour here regularly, that the reason they no longer visit, is because of the high number of NCNS.

Home is where the heart it.... I was born here and I for one love the DC area...  If you cannot find happiness here in DC I have a simple solution...

Growing up here and then returning after college, my friends and I labeled the DC area "Land of 7".

A 7 was the best you could hope for and a 7 around here was treated like a Victoria's Secret model or a Playboy Bunny.  

When I was younger, almost every other big town I went to I was amazed at how hot the girls were.  Finally I realized that it was DC that was ugly.  Good looking girls LEAVE here and don't come back.

Also, as for the hobby here in DC, it has gotten worse.  The FL & NY agencies don't frequent here as they once did.  

There is a few locals that charge 100 more than the typical rate and I still am amazed that this works.  But with no competition from a real hottie I guess it works.  Unreal.

Living here in DC you have to take what comes or get on a plane.  FWIW - I fly a lot. lol

none of the attributes you mentioned attract good looking women.  metro system? lol .  and those Universities are know for their ugly women.  

what attracts hotties?  warm weather, beach, nightlife/scene, rich people (not DC rich, I mean LOADED).

I’ve been in the hobby for 20 years and a TER member for 10 years.  In that time I’ve enjoyed the hobby around the world and it’s the same everywhere. The talent cycles through sometimes it’s great and sometimes it’s like the desert with nothing for miles. DC is no different but I can tell you that even the slow times are consistently better than many places I’ve been. But every time it slows down someone has to complain about the quality of the talent and many others join in with their tales of woe and then the subject shifts to why the ladies don’t want to come here (bad hobby guys, BAD, hang your head in shame). Then the situation improves and everyone is happy again.
So for all of the hobbyists suffering from the dreaded lackonookie  I’m going to share my secret for getting through tough times.
1. I see my regulars. All beautiful talented ladies in my eyes.
2. TOFTT, there are lots of ladies out there; you just have to do your homework and take a chance.
3. I do something else until the situation improves. There is no reason why you have to struggle. Just walk away for a little while. When you return life will be good again.
4. STFU, complaining isn't going to change anything. It might just scare off the talent you so desperately seek.
5. Lastly, I don’t take it so seriously. It’s supposed to be fun. Just get over it and move on. Life is too short to add the hobby to my list of worries. The day that that happens it will be time for me to go.

Those who trash DC, what makes you stay?  Probably one of those government jobs.  I understand not leaving before being able to retire, but there are LOTS of gov't jobs outside of DC.

Yes, you might have to take a pay cut, but if it is such a wrethched place that should be woth it to you (Hint: 808 transplant).  If you think the job and what it pays is worth the disadvantages, then please just shut up.

To say the weather is not as good as San Diego, fine.  But to say the restaurants universities and arts are below average now you are just being stupid, blind, or some of both.

Money?  No, you might not have Wall Street rich, but again, open your eyes and quit lieing to yourself.  And while a lot of the uberrich may not claim the DC area as "home" they spend many days there--are are more likely to frequent providers at that time.

EC is right in what she says--too many "average" DC guys feel a sense of being owed, and though I have no data I would guess the NC/NS rate for guys is well above normal.  There have even been concerted efforts by DC guys to fill a lady's travel card with NO intention of showing up just to "protect" their local favorites.

I do not live in DC--I have no desire for the commute--but I spend half my time there and from reading your griping I have probably spent more time actually exploring the city than many of you who are too busy moaning and complaining that the mountains are 75 minutes away.

Quite honestly it those who prefer to be beach bums would just go do so, maybe the supply and demand would make housing prices more reasonable for those of us who do enjoy the city.

Edrienne, you are correct.  Sadly this is a general condition with too many DC guys.

Maybe adopt a cancellation policy for dc, see if that works?

A cancellation fee?  I already do that... it's called not being able to schedule again with me unless a date is fully paid beforehand and/or a forfeiture of of any monies paid if there's a cancellation.  Unfortunately, the lack of accountability and respect (for self as well as for others) which makes a gent bother to go through screening, then bother to agree to the deposit amount/method/timeframe and then cancel is not likely going to be solved by "charging" him some random fee.

Award the ones that follow through?  Like being my normal charming self?  lol  I already do that.  Like giving some sort of discount?  That rather defeats the purpose of being in business, doesn't it?  Profit motive and all....  If the only way I can get gents in DC to be accountable is to offer discounts then why would I bother with going to DC at all when gents from other parts of the country haven't this issue?

Yes, my rates are a bit higher than most.  What that has to do with things mystifies me.  If someone can't afford my rates, why go through all the bother screening only to flake?  If someone can afford my rates, why the issues around screening and forwarding a deposit?  It's not as if I'm some low-profile, fly-by-night, unknown person randomly showing up.  At the rates I charge and the number of "haters" any successful person is bound to acquire, if I were anything but professional in my handling of business side of affairs the news would spread like wildfire.

There were a number of good responses from members and providers on this thread. I also agree with the sentiment that DC is...well, an average hobby town, but it can't be worse than hobbying in, say...Wallace, Idaho. SMDTC is correct when he admonishes us to make the best of it wherever we live, and his advice is sound. Here are some of my random thoughts on this subject:

1. The average gorgeous, or even plain 18-25 year old woman would rather live in a city with great climate, great nightclubs/nightlife, and wealthy men because it's...fun. I'm sure it was like this 2,000 years ago where the Mediterranean was the destination for fun (and still is). They want to live in a town or city that's just like a gigantic amusement park, because it's...fun. They also want to hang around men who also like to have fun. I've reached middle age now and when I look back, I understand this a whole lot better. For these types of fun loving young women, DC is a boring town. I once saw a real hottie working behind the desk at the Library of Congress about 8 years ago, but then, she was the intellectual type and was probably right at home here.

2. If local providers don't cut it, have a coke, sit tight and wait for a great traveler to fill your needs.
If you can afford it, travel to a warm hobbying hot spot for a week or two and knock yourself out. Not a bad idea.

3. If you have to cancel a session, have courage and don't be afraid of the provider's reaction. Just do it as early as possible. Pulling a no show will only piss her off, and deservedly so.

4. Professional sports doesn't affect me one way or the other. It's a business disguised as a sport--not the other way around.

5. I stopped patronizing strip clubs here long ago; too many average looking girls on stage with tattoos and body piercing. Ugh! The ones I saw in Florida looked like glamour models compared to DC.

6. The winters are dark and grey here, but I used to work with a guy who lived in Seattle, Washington. He told me that it was mostly dark and grey there for roughly nine months out of the year, just like DC. I prefer dark and grey to out of control wildfires that can reduce your house to ashes, or mudslides that can rip your house of its foundation. Paradise is tough to find.

Let me start with, "Ladies, I Love You ALL".

I enjoyed reading this string and appreciate the provoking lead in, whether true or not, it was interesting to see the comments. Since I am not from the DC area, I will take this opportunity to give my views.

I am been in the hobby for 28 years (started at the not so innocent age of 18) and have been privileged to experience providers all over the world (still have some places on my bucket list though).

While I am now a middle aged (46) white male, I have lived and gone to school or worked in Europe, Middle East, Asia, Central & South America, and Hawaii (yes, given that I was also military, the government considers this overseas since it is outside the continental U.S.). Point here is that my experience is not just visiting but also based on living in many places, including CA, Mid West, North East, Very Southern U.S. and Northern part of the South (Yes, as a Southern Man by birth and roots, I am also am always happy to remind many in the area that Virginia is still considered the South. Boy you would be surprised at how many in the NoVa area hate to admit this). Hopefully by now I have tweaked everyone who loves to be defensive of their home turf in the local area.

So the above is to stop any who may want to disagree with my comments based on past experience. I have it covered so hopefully now eliminated that argument.

I have two homes in Florida but have been living in the NoVa / DC area for the past 3 years full time and travel constantly as well. The bottom line is there are beautiful women in this area and in every area I have ever travelled. It is true there are areas that have a larger amount of providers of certain demographic but it is based on supply and demand just like anything else. Regardless there will always be those that say the grass is greener on the other side, so be it. I have found in the past 3 years as I have gained more and more experience with providers in this area (local and visitors), that there is a great variety of providers in the DMV and this helps satisfy a very diverse population.

I have also asked many providers who visit from California, Florida, Mid West, and overseas, why they frequent the DMV. Interestingly enough, it is because they may not work as providers in their local area due to family and they choose to provide mainly in the DMV because 'the men are nicer, mature, have some disposable income, less impacted by the economical problems, and safer". Wow, very interesting but if you stop and think about it, I suspect it is true. Listen to their stories of being robbed by clients in some of those large, popular cities like South Florida. There will always be pros & cons in every market. I travel to Dallas / Ft Worth a lot and you would think there would be a huge selection there. Well I stay in the Ft Worth area and traffic there isn't great either so Dallas isn't an option yet I do not find as good of a selection (for me) that is readily available as I do here. So I look forward to returning. Now I am back in Florida a lot and not close to Tampa, Orlando or Miami so there is very little selection and I look forward to returning here.

Guys here are complaining about transplants versus locals, etc. Are you kidding, how many (by statistics) of the men in this area are actually born and raised here? The DMV is a major area of transplants. Besides, who cares. If I see a beautiful provider and just get the manly urge to let my other head give my other one a break, I have never asked myself, gee I wonder if she is local. Nor have I EVER made a decision of which provider to see based on whether they were local or not. WHO DOES THAT? We check the menu, looks, price, availability, etc., (whatever trips your trigger) and make a decision and that's it.

DMV providers past, present, and future, whether local, visitors, transients, etc., you are all beautiful and I think God (yes, my god and yes I am mixing religion and sex together here because if it weren't for the providers I would be praying to God to bring them back). While they are all beautiful, I have my personal choices and preferences that I gravitate to but they are all beautiful to someone. We need you, and without you, those picky, pointless people who don't have anything better to do than complain would need to change their orientation and complain about that too.

Guys, who cares why they are here, why they are not, how far beaches, mountains, art, etc., is away. Surely you have learned by now that everyone has different tastes so everyone who is here is here for a reason, regardless. If it is that bad then deal with it, make it the best it can be for you or leave. Frankly, I can't stand traffic. It is ridiculous to take 1 to 1-1/2 hours to go 9 miles so I adapt in that area. I am not a city person but I have found things that are good for me and I find the best I can in every location I go to. Or I could sit home and bitch about it for the years I am there. Get over it.

Who cares how people make their money. Does it matter there are people starting companies here to get fat off government contracts? No, good for them. As long as they are legit businesses getting those contracts and provide a service, so what. (No, I don't have one of those but if I think of the right idea, darn right I would).

Every place on gods green earth (yes, my god), has pros and cons. Someone will like it and someone will hate it.

The biggest complaint I hear from providers is the cancellations from you guys out there (no, I have never cancelled. I have been late thanks to traffic but never cancelled. I wouldn't do it because I would hate for someone to cancel on me). This seems to be a big deal on Sunday's with many guys setting appointments and then canceling to watch the ball games. Are you kidding me? A guy really thinks hmmmm, I sure need to find me a sweet lady today, books an appointment and then actually lets a ball game get in your way? You think it is mountains and beaches keeping them away? No, there are plenty that don't need mountains and beaches. By the way, many providers that visit are coming here to make extra money, not to go seeking nature.

How about keeping your appointments, appreciating the beautiful ladies that grace us with their presence (local or visitors who cares) and be thankful you have the ability to get it up, the fact you have a job or ability to fund this activity, the ability to get one of them to spend time with you and then just TiVO / DVR the ball game and keep your appointment.

I love the ladies and pray everyday (yes, to my god) that I will be able to have another day of getting it up. When I can no longer do that, I will watch football, go to the beach and visit the mountains. In the mean time, ladies I am here for you.

I don't expect guys like MR or NG to be seeing me at all!  I'd actually prefer to avoid the big name political types - I certainly don't need the exposure that they may carry with them.  But if a household name guy does want to see me, and we can get past the screening hurdles and both feel safe that our meeting will remain private (no tabloids involved), they have several options other than credit cards with which to pre-pay.  Besides, it's not as if they'd be sending the deposit to "EscortsRUS" or anything. lol  Just as TER billing doesn't show "The Erotic Review - Escort Review Site", mine is discreet as well.

Honestly, the traits that I think would cause a person to behave the way I've seen most DC'ers behave fit perfectly well with political types (either conservative or liberal):  A) not having much accountability in their day-to-day lives; B) expecting people's memories to be 30 seconds long and forgiveness for errors to be a sound-byte away; C) being used to lying and manipulating others; D) a completely unfounded and overinflated sense of their own importance; E) no understanding that messing with other people's livelihoods/incomes/schedules really isn't cool and often makes them dislike you.

But let's not turn this into a political thread or it might get moved....

this affects local talent as well as visitors. i never book unless i can defend my schedule. but then i am not in DC by preference and i refuse to adopt carelessness and arrogance as a business practice.

Like most people here, both hobbyists and providers, I am a transplant.  I moved to the area in the early 1990's when my job in the defense industry disappeared due to the end of the cold war.  Though not in DC proper, (I'm in the very close-in MD suburbs), most of my jobs have been in dowtown DC (including my present one, and its always been in the private sector), and I've partaken of the greater DC amenities.  One thing that no one has mentioned is the abundance of world class musuems and monuments.  And the great thing is most of them are free.  Just the Smithsonian group of musuems is unrivaled anywhere in the world, not to mention the US.  Most of the museums in NY have entrance fees (ie Museum of Natural History NY vs Museum of Natural History DC).  Both the Capitol and White House have free tours.  That is definitely not true for Buckingham Palace.  We are spoiled here in this regard.

I have only been hobbying for a little less than two years, but I love the local girls.  I do travel and get to hobby in other states.  The locals do not lack in beauty or talent compared to the others I've visited with.  If anything, they tend to be smarter in general due to the diverse nature of the DC environment.  And like me, most moved here from other parts of the country.  Among my favorite locals, one is originally from NYC, 2 are originally from FL and a couple are from MD.  I also see some visitors (mostly from FL) who told me there is much more opportunity for their trade here than in their hometowns down south.  I think we are spoiled here in this regard too.

DC became the capital because none of the original 13 states wanted to give up any good land for this purpose.  However, Maryland had a piece of swampland near the Potomac that they volunteered.  That's how the capital came here.  The first couple of decades, they spent most of the time draining the swamp (that is why it is still hot and humid during the summers).  It also the reason why it did not really become habitable 12 months of the year until airconditioning was invented.  I'm surprised Willis Carrier does not have a monument somewhere in this city.  He surely deserves one.

DC is the capital of the most powerful and affluent country in the world.  Power and money tend to attract talent and ambition.  So a toast to all the hobbyists and providers in DC (visitors, transplants and locals).  Beauty, brains and libido without equal...

From experience, when I first got in the hobby which was many, many years ago, I was lead around by my little head.  And at that time I would see advertisements by ladies like you and say to myself I gotta have her!  So I would plan appropriately; save up my money for the overpriced rate; go through the onerous verification process; etc.  After having the session I would say to my self; self, was that really worth-it?  and self would allways say no.  For that mystical reason, after I cum, I returned quickly back to reality.  Inevitably and subsequently I would see a provider who looked as good as you for a fraction of your fee and would have, at a minimum, a resonably good time (full GFE, no Drama, no Bait and Switch, etc).  After a few of these "ah-ha" moments I never went back to VIP providers.  And yes, unfortunately, I did initiate a few NCNS instances with "VIP" ladies.  Knowing that this was not a good business practice, let alone, total disrespct to the ladies I never conducted business with VIP types again.  This is my personal experience to your NCNS delima

In addition, I would suggest other reasons include (which usually ONLY comes to mind AFTER they have had some time to really consider what it will take to see you).

- The Client really could not afford you in the first place.
- The Client could not and/or was not willing to be complete your screening requirements.
- The Client never had the intention to pre-pay cause he knew ultimately it was not going to happen
- Last and quite simply The Client had a "dick-jerk," (not knee-jerk), response to your Ad and thought I must have her.  But after considering all the requirements settled for a V8.

With all that said, If I were a rookie, I would call you immediately beautiful to arrange a session.
