One of my out of town ATF's did a recent tour through the area and she indicated that this may be her last tour through DC after the shabby treatment she's gotten from the guys here. She was originally booked to be here for a week based upon commitments made by the guys here (I made two extended appointments with her myself), but she indicated that other than me and one other person, everyone else ended canceling at the very last minute (after she had already booked hotel rooms, etc). She was foruntately able to cancel her hotel rooms and just ended up leaving for home early (which was really fortunate since DC area hotel rooms during the weekday and the summer tend to be very pricey). This after she canceled her last trip here because guys were going back and forth and not committing to appointments, etc. I hate to think we're getting a bad rep with out ot town providers based upon what she's told me.
For obvious reasons, I will not reveal who she is (likewise the reason I am using an alias from my normal TER handle). But I can assure you that she is VERY well reviewed and consistently gets high marks on all facets of the service that she delivers (and she is a knockout to boot). I am also not a newbie myself as I have been around the DC scene for years (going on decades now) and have seen or know about many of the providers in the area going back a long ways - so I know what I'm talking about when I say she is awesome.
Anyway, I just wanted to find out what gives? This combined with Mea's recent post about her friend tells me that the DC community is definitely changing and it doesn't necessarily sound like it's for the better.
I know that all hobbyiest are using hard earned funds (especially in these tough economic times) for these services, but we should remember that there is someone on the other end of this equation and this whole thing will far apart if there is no trust and at least some level of decency here...and yes, I do understand the nature of what it is that we're all doing here (which is no excuse for bad behavior).
1. DC area is FULL of providers.. if you want to get a nut, you can get it within an hour, so why wait..
2. traveling providers want prebooking as if they are movie stars..please I am not coming to see a show at the kennedy center ..I want to get a nut ..
3. traveling providers most of the time charge more than local providers ..
your provider friend is coming to DC because there is market here, with that comes risks so she needs to deal with it.. perhaps next time you can book a whole day or two with her and stop worrying about the rest of us cancelling or not ..
...... 1. I am based in DC, and never accept same day dates. My gentlemen friends know that they must book in advance. If you really need to, as you so crassly put it, "get a nut", save your money, go into the bathroom, and take matters into your own hands, or go to K and 12th at midnight. Thankfully, I visit with gentlemen who are looking for multi hour dates.
2. I do tour from time to time, and all dates must be made before I arrive. I simply need to know if I will have a ROI. I am already booking gentlemen, well into October.
3. My gift is the same, whether in DC, or on "tour".
I once asked a provider when she would be back in town. She gave me a date. Turns out I was the only one booked that day but she came (in lots of ways!!!) anyway. So each provider operates differently.
Another hot provider was fully booked, woke up feeling homesick, and left town and told no one.
You will see lots of different behavior in this profession.
