....would to begin with a very small number of verified guests, and grow from there.  I am involved with a wonderful yahoo group, that offers meet and greets twice a year.  It is run very well, and there are an abundance of rules to follow, which keeps everyone "in check", and keeps us UTR, but it works very well for us.  It is, however, not based in DC, but could be emulated.

The M&G stopped because of increased LE activities. There is no specific reason.

As soon as a new organizer comes around. Those who use to organize it got tired and decided it wasn't worth the risks and trouble any more.

So if you want to start one, go ahead. They can be simple meetings, or if you know how to organize a party and have a few $$ to put down on a private location then it's a blast.

As far as the rumors go. No one got busted, and yes there was a lot of LE activity back then. Eventually those who use to do all the work got tired.

So have at it. Someone take charge and post on the MnG board.

Not picking on you jung1 , but you have been misinformed, no provider threatened to out the M&Gs.
There was no mass retirement of all the local ladies and the active board members became inactive because of all this, not before. Trust me, they're all still around.
It came from someone that was trusted within this community. Who it was, was never made perfectly clear. You can choose which rumor you want to believe.
At any rate, LE knew a lot about what was going on.
The information was too direct to be ignored.

While it's true that we weren't doing anything illegal, if enough attention were given most of us would have been embarrassed at the very least. Imagine your picture shown on the local Fox News story about a gathering of prostitutes and johns. Imagine being taken downtown for questioning, how would anyone explain that absence to their families. What if someone were to be actually arrested? What if someone was threatened and got scared and started running their mouth?

We organized the M&Gs for fun. To have to worry about whether a guest is going to have to go through anything remotely close to any of those scenarios is too much. We don't want to have to do it, we don't want any of you to have to go through it. We decided it would be better not to have one at all.  

With that level of scrutiny, we weren't going to have one again anytime soon. At this point, it's been kind of nice not to be always planning, screening, recruiting, and organizing the next one. Trust me, it's a lot of work.

Thanks to the guys and girls that did help organize these things.
They were a lot of fun and I miss the interaction.
