I could write a short book on what I didn't like about the Bahamas, but just as YMMV with providers the same can be said about Caribbean islands. Ultimately, it depends upon what you're looking for. My experiences weren't low key or great: alot of people and I didn't like the service. But I like to be a pampered hermit when I go to an island, so the Bahamas weren't a good fit for me.

Getting tips from here is a start, but I suggest that you also get with a couple travel agents for some info. Also the internet is a good source of information.
