As one who had frequented both DC and Tysons, I will put my 2 cents in.  Granted I have a car, so Tysons is no problem.  And yes, down the road, the subway will soon be serving that area.

I have driven into DC to see a provider.  And yes, I could have taken Metro.  But that is easier said than done.  I have plotted many a trip to find that the length of time to get there is prohibitive based on my time.  Parking is a joke, and costs $$.  Btw, Metro isn't cheap either.  And I understand that fares are going up again.  With a proposal for a 50cent surcharge for going through the city or downtown area.

It's probably cheaper for agencies to put people in Tysons and elsewhere than DC itself.  I know of xerveral indies that charge an extra $50 for a DC booking.

Basically, it's a catch 22.  Advantages and isadvantages to both areas.

Several agencies have providers in Tysons (prime, elite, TGND, Classy, Angel, desirable).  It seems a few years ago agencies frequented downtown DC, especially DuPont Circle, but now they mainly hang out in Tysons, which is not Metro friendly.  Locations in Bethesda/Rockville, Silver Spring, and College Park usually work out fine, though.

Any suggestions on using Public transit to get to these providers, especially on Sat or Sun? I don't have a car currently, and would prefer not to use a rental or taxi.  It might be even worse to get there since they use multiple locations.

I also noticed most of the AMPs in NoVA are located far from the Metro, so advice there would also be helpful.

Thanks!

I have little advice other than going to the internet and googling Metro. You can find busroutes and times there.

I find it very annoying that most escorts are in Tyson, too. Unlike Europe, the U.S. is very unfriendly when it comes to public transport and if you don't have a car you are generally pretty f____d. So I hang on the internet waiting for someone I want to be in DC or College Park/Silver Spring.

The closest metro rail stop to Tysons is Dunn-Loring on the orange line.  There are several buses that connect to Tysons.  It's about a 10-minute ride.  Problem is that only gets you to the mall.  Often these providers will operate out of an apartment in a residential area not directly served by metro.  Your best bet might be to arrange a taxi from Dunn-Loring.  You're right; Tysons is best suited to private auto use.

There is bus transit through Tysons that goes to/from Metro stations.  But honestly, it's not worth the time for you.

Prime and Classy and TGND all have providers working from DC most of the time, so while you may not have access to all providers, I'd be surprised if you can't find someone who fits your taste.  Not to mention all the quality independents who prefer DC.

Wait till 2013 and all of us living in Fairfax, Reston, Herndon, Ashburn, area would be able to Tyson's  and DC without having to get into our car

While the location of the metro(s) in Tysons will allow easier access, it won't be very close to the homes around it (Note: I don't know where providers are located, I'm taking an educated guess knowing the area well)
You will still have to either taxi it (likely extremely cheap) or hoof it.  Walking would probably be at least a 5-10 minute walk to any condo/apartment area.  So while yes, it will bring you closer, you will still have to walk/cab it.

To Dunn Loring or East Falls Church...Easy to catch a cab to any of the Tysons Hotels...probably less than $20 R/T.

As an infrequent traveler, I was about to post a similar question when I stumbled across this thread.  Once again thank you TER for demonstating it's value.

I think I will have to figure out the Tysons transportation since so many of the providers that match my preference and review well are located there.  My VIP is renewing soon, time for more research.

A few years ago, I was working out in NoVa, but did not have a car.  Since I like noon dates, it was a challenge seeing providers.  But then I found Zipcar.  Booking a car for two hours is about $20.  Small price to pay, and much less aggravating than trying to book a taxi.

I figured out what I'll do if can not find any thing that suits my taste in the Dupont Circle when I arrive.  I will pickup a ZipCar.  I estimate it is about the same as a cab round trip to Tyson but with a lot less hassle.
